love for ferrets

little fuzzies that rule your world

This site is dedicated to those adorable little fuzzies. I have owned ferrets since i was 10yrs old (im almost 26 now). I can not think of a better pet then a ferret. I could never imagine my life without a ferret in it. Although a ferret is not for everyone, if you choose to make one a member of your family there is nothing more rewarding. There are many things that you should know before purchasing a ferret. (I am not a vet so do not use this information as a replacement from your ferret friendly vet)

First off the life span of a ferret is generally 7 to 9yrs,but(and this is a big but) by the age of 2-3yrs old it is quite common for ferrets to develope  serious conditions that are rather expensive. First is adrenal disease which are tumors on the adrenal glands. second is insulinoma which are cells in the pancreas that develope into tumors. When owning a ferret you should always have $1000.00 set aside. Also know that annually you will have to take your ferret for distemper and rabies shots, but know your ferret may have a reaction to these shots, it is best to wait at the vets for atleast 15-20mins. to make sure your ferret is ok.

Ferrets personalaties are awesome..they are very playful, but will curl up with you and go to sleep, they are so loveable. They need to be(if caged) let out of there cages a minimum of 4hrs a day. You need to supervise them, and ferret proof your home, they are like children..they will get into everything.  As far as toys go, dont go to crazy they will mostly likely be entertained by boxes, plastic bags, and paper bags. Some homemade toys for ferrets are a ricebox (rubbermaid with about 10lbs of rice),dirt box, paperbox(shredded paper in a box), tunnels and tubes(dryer hoses, or cardboard tubes..such as old carpet tubes).

Just know what to expect when you get your little fuzzy.  Patience is important...DO NOT EVER hit your ferret as a form of disipline, they are little animals and will associate you as something to be afraid of. Always reward your ferret for being good (furovite or ferretone work very well).

Be prepared for accidents, be prepared for digging at carpets, be prepared for vet visits, and be prepared for giving up some time to spend with these precious little animals.

I will be updating this site frequently. This is temporary for now. I will be updating with more info soon. More photos will be added as well.

Please take time to sign my guestbook. Or leave me feedback in the shoutbox up top.
