The map below graphically illustrates that diagenetically altered glass spherules found in Alabama, the Gulf of Mexico, Haiti, northeastern Mexico, New Jersey, Texas and other locations may have a common origin. IT is obvious they all lie within tolerable distances of a wide debris field the line on the map simply represents.
The Beloc sediments containing K-T impact glass (SRD layer) is followed by a Pd-dominated PGE anomaly of a basaltic type. Since basalt is a major constitute of the earth's crust, it is consistent with other evidence that sea regression was brought about from an emptying of lava from beneath the ocean via an orogenic event.
