Mission Statement

"Alien By Nature exists to provide a real, authentic, and relevant message through music and lyrics which reflect our life of faith in Christ."

This means that our music is a MINISTRY; written and played to the honour and glory of God, not ourselves. We seek to reflect and MAGNIFY God in the choices and desicions we make as a band, and to serve Him in all we do. Our music is not a show of what we can do or who we are, but a MEDIUM to bring across the MESSAGE of God's love to those who need to hear. Our attitudes and lifestyles-- on stage, personally, and corporately-- must reflect this at all times.
God is our beginning, end, and everything. We exist to serve Him only.

A Bit About Me:

Hey... I don't think I really fit the whole stereotypical lead singer role.. you know, the crazy actions up on stage... the insanely good voice.. the wild and crazy attitude... I tend to be the most reserved in the whole group.. but that's not saying I'm quiet... I oviously spend alot of time talking as evidenced by my bio below... it's kinda always something that I have worked on... because I don't want to be someone different up on stage than I am in person... so if I am not a nut in person, why be a nut on stage? I guess it's just something I'm groing into.. we get more and more fun to watch up on stage every time we play.. so it's getting better as we go... But I still don't fit the stereotype...

"May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal convenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleaseing to Him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glroy for ever and ever." (Hebrews 13:20-21)

"May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." (Galatians 6:14)

I was born in Canada 16 years ago, and lived there for the first 10 years of my life. My Dad had gone through college a second time to get a bachelor's degree because he felt that God was calling him into the ministry. So we moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, so that he could attend Calvin Theological Seminary. Those next 4 years (ages 10-14) were very life-changing for me. not only were there the typical changes that occur around that age, but as I began to grow up and learn more about who God really was to me, my gifts began to blossom.
Being raised in a Christian home, I accepted Christ between the ages of 6-8, I am not exactly sure when, but it was in that time... In the spring of 2002, I went with our church youth group on a missions trip with Habitat for Humanity to Jamaica. Although Christ was already a very real part of my life, I think that that is when God really got a hold of me, really laid claim to my heart. That week has impacted me ever since. As I have been growing older, my spiritual walk with the Lord has grown deeper and stronger, especially through struggles and hard times in life. God has been faithful beyond comprehension.
In September, 2002, my brother (Ben), Mark Wiersma, and I began a band in the Fox Lake, Randolph, and Waupun area of Wisconsin. It all started in Mark's basement. We had a lead vocalist, a drummer, and a guitarist. Since then, God has blessed us to the point we are at now. As a band in the basement, we had no clue God was going to take us to where He has. To us, it has just been more proof that God's plans are bigger than our own.
God has blessed us along the way immensely, and as we continue to strive to serve Him in what we do, we continue to see His hand in our lives.
I think the most amazing part of where we are at right now as a band is how far we've come since we started. I began playing guitar in January 2002, so I've only been playing for two and a half years. As for singing, well, that's kinda happened since forever, but yeah, God has blessed me hugely with these gifts. and now all the glory goes to God. I also only began writing lyrics about Spetember, 2002. Beleive me, when I began trying to write songs and lyrics, I was extremely discouraged (it was pretty bad stuff). But since then, God has blessed me immensely, and I have come so far from where I began. I will forever be grateful to Him for that.
This past year has been a bit of a struggle for me... with Spiritual highs and lows, as well as the ups and downs of the teenage emotional rollercoaster. It's been no picnic. But God has been there through all the times that I have laid in bed wondering "Why me?" or "What the heck is going on here?". I can't even begin to explain all that God has done for me. I don't know what I'd do without my faith. I think that's part of the reason why I love this band... we are slowly moving towards a point in time when we just have to be real and truthful about life. Through the music we play, and other stuff like that, we have the unique opportunity of reaching those who don't have the hope born out of faith that we do. That's what I'm all about.
I thank God for my parents, who have been a huge part and blessing in my faith, and support for our band. Without my parents, I don't know if I would be where I am now. God has blessed me with a wonderful family.

I guess this is it. I'll leave with this verse that has brought so much into my life and given me the answers to many of the questions i have come across:

"Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will mount up on wings as eagles. They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:31)

I was raised in a Chrsitian home, but did not really understand God or who he was until I was about to enter into High School. I accepted Christ the summer before my freshman year. a year leater, I made profession of faith at Living Hope Community Church. Music is how I feel God work through me. When I listen to music and hear the lyrics, sometimes I can hear God speaking to me.  also with the lyrics I write for the band, I can feel Him at work in me. God has changed my life. With Him I am complete. God is all I really need, and I look forward to what work God will do in me in the future.

A bit about me:
I was born August 18, 1987 at home in the small town of Fox Lake WI, where I still live today. Right now I go to high school at Waupun Christian. I am a 16-year-old sophomore. I am very athletic, this year I am going out for basketball, and track is my favorite. The first time I ever picked up a bass was probably a year and a half ago. The first bass I got was a Christmas present last year, and ever since then I've been teaching myself.
I was being brought up into a Christian family. I went to church every Sunday with my family, but it really did not mean anything to me. I went to the public school for 6 1/2 years. During that time I started falling away from God. When my family and I started going to LHC I got involved with the youth group there. I also started going to the Christian school in Randolph. That year I went with the youth group to a concert in Madison, and during this concert there was a prayer and confession time. During that time, I received Jesus Christ in my heart to be my Savior.
I made profession of faith earlier this past year on June 8th.

Any last words?:
just be yourself
