Possible Interview Questions with Answers
Work History
What were your responsibilities at your most recent job? When I worked at Marble Lake Lodge, (MLL) I was not employed just as a waitress; I was required to "run the store" as well. My responsibilities as a waitress included taking orders, delivering orders, handling cash, running the till, washing dishes, refilling condiments on tables cleaning tables, restocking kitchen foods, and attending to customers (drink refills, etc.). Marble Lake Lodge has a small store attached to it as well, in which I worked in. There my responsibilities consisted of stocking shelves, running the till and keeping track of items sold, scooping ice cream, and handling paddle boat rentals. Throughout the restaurant/store, I was required to vacuum, clean bathrooms, and make sure the building was locked up at closing time.
What was it like working for your supervisor?
Bob and Tanya P. are my employers, and it was a complete joy working for them. They have laid-back attitudes, but expect the job to get done right. Sometimes MLL will become overrun by customers, and things will get hectic, but at the end of the day, everyone congratulates each other on a job well done. If a day does not go well, they do not dwell on the past - they look forward to improving the days to come.
What major challenges and problems did you face? How did you handle them?
There were not many problems at MLL. The only difficulty was the sudden loss of help; one of our waitresses was not available to work anymore, so I was required to handle more aspects of the job at once. I had to wait customers in the restaurant, while waiting different customers in the store area. I set my mind to what had to get done, and maintained a calm perspective to handle this difficulty. |

Personal
How many hours do you normally work?
I worked approximately twenty-five hours each week on average, only because I was a first-year employee and had just been introduced into the field.
What motivates you?
The entire staff motivates me because the work force is understanding and encouraging. The supervisors like to laugh, and they rise the optimism level. This motivates me because it makes me feel that I can achieve whatever the day decides to throw at me.
Do you prefer to work independently, or as a team?
For my current job at Marble Lake Lodge, I prefer to work as a team, rather than individually because all aspects of the job get done more accurately, and faster. With more than one person tending to the store and the restaurant, the day goes smoother because the customer's needs are met at a faster rate. Teamwork is more beneficial to not only the employees, but the customers as well. |

The New Job (Elementary Teacher)
Why are you the best person for the job?
I believe I am the best person for this job because I work well with children, have a lot of patience, understand children's views and outlooks on the world and I have an attitude that makes children feel comfortable around me. I know that different children enjoy different things, so I would introduce new techniques for projects, and overall schoolwork. I would treat all my students fairly, and offer consistant and reliable help to anyone who would like it.
What applicable experience do you have?
For my volunteer hours, I chose to work with children in different aspects. I most recently coached a Kindergarten Soccer Team, which requires patience, encouragement, comfortable atmosphere and overall understanding of children. I have also volunteered at various children's parties, where I served lunch, helped them make crafts, told stories, and maintained their interest throughout the day. I am a social person who creates a comfort zone, so children are able to talk to me, which was evident when I volunteered at the Bike Rodeo. I was to help children with proper bicycle equipment, skills and they were able to ask me any questions.
Are you willing to travel?
I have a flexible lifestyle that allows me to travel wherever the job takes me. When I accept a job, I take full responsibility and maintain my dedication to the job position throughout my term. |
