Alex has been one of Britain's most improved players over the last couple of years, currently the British number 5. In 2007, he increased his ranking by over 400 places. His eventual ambition is to play on the ATP tour regularly and break the world's top 10.

the heat is just crazy is Uzbekistan at the moment, a bigger problem though is the food - knowing what will and what won't give you food poisoning is something of a gamble
R1: bt V Klymenko (Ukr) 6-2, 7-6(3)
Klymenko's ranked 800 but this was a tricky draw, he's done well in portuguese futures this year and beaten several British players.
