Blackish Nightjar (Caprimulgus nigrescens) Serra dos Caiabis, Mato Grosso, Brazil, September 2006.

A cheap Nikon Coolpix camera (5200) accompanied me on my 2005/2006 field campaigns to Amazonia, handholding this up to my Leica binoculars or Swarovski fieldscope proved invaluable in the documentation of many rare and little-known taxa. The digi-videoscoped movies below give a flavour for what is possible even in very poor light conditions, ok so it isn't Planet Earth, but it is better than nothing!
