Alex Parks is a 19-year-old singer/songwriter from Mount Hawke - a small village in Cornwall. She was the 2003 winner of Fame Academy, which meant she bagged herself a million pound record deal, a flat in Notting Hill, North London for a year, and a BMW!

Alex was labelled TV's queen of angst in the Fame academy house because of the emotion she puts into the songs she sings.

Alex's new life in London is very different to the one she used to live in Cornwall. She had always lived in the same house, around the same people, living the same lives. The pace of life in Mount Hawke is a very slow one, which is the opposite of what Alex is now experiencing in the capital. Despite this, Alex says, “London's wicked! I love London” Mount Hawke, her hometown, is a small village that has two shops, church, a school, and a pub.

It has taken the shy teenager a while to adjust to the celebrity lifestyle and the ways of life she now has to adopt, and says that the strangest thing is 'people recognising you...wanting something off you. A small signature...it's a compliment, but quite hard to understand'.

She has also changed the face of reality TV, as no one expected someone of Alex's style and calibre to come from such a talent show.
