Alder Valley Coaches Ltd

Introduction To Alder Valley

There isn't actually a River Alder. The name Alder Valley is short for the Thames Valley & Aldershot Traction Co Ltd, which was created with the merger of Thames Valley and Aldershot & District. In real life, Alder Valley was broken into three - Alder Valley South, The Berks Bucks Bus Co (The Bee Line) and Alder Valley Engineering (which became AVE Berkhof). Today, The Bee Line is First Berkshire, Alder Valley South is Stagecoach Hants & Surrey and Tillingbourne is defunct.

There is, however, a River Tillingbourne, running through Berkshire and Surrey. Tillingbourne Valley Coaches - later just Tillingbourne - was formed in the early 20th century. It ran services mainly in the Guildford area, Tillingbourne Valley used (very) dark maroon and grey, whilst Tillingbourne used yellow and blue.

My Tillingbourne Valley runs a service through Windsor to Guildford and another from Windsor to Epsom via Staines, Chertsey, Walton, Esher, Malden Manor and Worcester Park. Alder Valley runs in Epsom, Dorking and Guildford, with a daily service from Dorking to Kingston.

The site is still under construction, and in the next few weeks should be finished.
