My name is Alayne Bateson-Lueks. I have been involved in many aspects of the British Columbia thoroughbred industry for over twenty years. I've worked for some of the best and most prominent breeding farms in BC, including Canmor Farms and Crown West Farms.
My family, John and Mavis Bateson, have been involved with thoroughbreds in this province for nearly forty years...my late father John Bateson was a former president of the CTHS (Vancouver Island Division) and a director of the CTHS (BC Division). I started my official career with the racing industry in 1986, while working for a lay up and breeding farm in Aldergrove by the name of Stone Dean Farm Thoroughbreds. After several years working in the breeding shed, I moved on to Canmor Farms, where I was introduced to the art of sales preparation. I continued with Canmor for several years working with breeding stock and yearlings, having the priviledge of working with some of the best breeding stock in British Columbia. I moved on to Crown West Farms, and continued to work with exceptional horses. I have vast experience in sales preparation, breeding, grooming, and foal care, but have always felt my forte was in sales preparation.
My career as a breeder has been small in size, but fruitful. I purchased my first broodmare from Canmor in 1990, a mare by the name of Desire To Win. She went on to produce multiple stakes winner Galavant, and stakes placed winner Glasgow Kiss. I have since recently purchased a Carson City mare name Carson's Angel, and hope she goes on to be as productive as Desire to Win.
