2nd Alabama Militia, Co. A

Recommended Equipment

Members of the 2nd Alabama Militia should maintain the following gear in order to effectively complete any required missions or training exercises.

Level 1 Gear

1) Rifle (preferably in .303, 30.06, or 7.62x.39)

2) 100 rounds of ammunition for same rifle.

3) Water container, one quart minimum.

4) Cleaning kit for above rifle.

5) Suitable carrying gear to transport personal equipment.

6) Individual first-aid kit.

7) Combat or hiking boots.

Level 2 Gear

  • Poncho with liner or blanket (a sleeping bag may replace the blanket, but you still need a poncho). (A tarp may replace the poncho, if necessary.)
  • Compass, non-electrical, with degree markings. 
  • Camouflage material, suitable for the season, to include face and hands.
  • Knife or bayonet.
  • Flashlight with blue or red lens cover. Cellophane is okay.
  • 550 cord or parachute-cord, at least 50 feet.
  • Alabama road map, foldable gas-station type.
  • FRS Radio.
