What is the Egroup all about? And why it is best to have 'individual emails' in your delivery options
The AJS&M egroup was a development of a listserver that was originally initated by Wayne Woodruff (Webmaster of NA Section AJS &M website), the new egroup was built up (and moderated) by Rick Mann with most of the original members recruited by word-of-mouth and direct email invites to known 'AJS & M gurus' that were willing to share their passion for these bikes with others. Although not officially part of the owners club it was originally started to allow computer equipped NA members to keep in contact with one another and draw upon the collective knowledge of the group members - not surprisingly, this quickly turned into something much, much bigger.
Now there are approximately 1050 egroup members in USA, Canada, Denmark, Cuba, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand, Tasmania and UK (naturally!) - just to name a few! Remember the egroup is PRIMARILY a list server - you will get the most out of this group by reading the individual email messages and following the 'threads' as they are sent and questions are answered by the stalwarts of the group.
As a result of this, the group has become one of the most informative motorcycle listservers on the internet. Off topic, irrelevent, blatantly erroneous and verbose post are diplomatically kept to a minimum by peer review. All 'new' members are moderated - ie read by a real human BEFORE they reach the group, this keeps spam to a minimum, but, it can mean a delay of anything between 10 mins (usual) to 24 hours (unusual) before the message reaches the group. After a couple of posts (to determine that the new member is not a 'spam' artist) most settings are switched to unmoderated.
This is the link BACK to the Yahoo egroup main page "the best kept secret on the web". Most of us have joined the listserver by word of mouth - please spread the word to like-minded individuals who can help add to the depth of knowledge available to all of us with an interest in these great bikes.
Add to the intellectual wealth of the group by contributing whenever you can - tips, hints ...spare parts? great ideas. Don't be afraid your opinions and experience is valued!
