25th September 2005 - Mario Ancic News Croatia are through to the Final of the Davis Cup for the first time, after Ivan Ljubicic defeated Nikolay Davydenko to give Croatia an unassailable 3-1 lead in the tie. Mario was not needed to play in the dead rubber so Ivo Karlovic played the final match instead. Congratulations Croatia. The final will be played in the Slovak Republic the beginning of December.

24th September 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario and Ivan Ljubicic fought to a 6-2 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 3-6 6-4 victory against Igor Andreev and Dmitry Tursonov in the Davis Cup. This gives Croatia a 2-1 lead in the semi-final. Ivan Ljubicic will face Nikolay Davydenko in the first of teh reverse rubbers tomorrow. If he wins Croatia will be in the Davis Cup Final for the first time. If he loses it will go to the wire and who can handle the pressure best with Mario Ancic v Mikhael Youzhny. But either way hopefully we will see Croatia do well and hopefully into the Final. Ajmo Hrvatska.

23rd September 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario lost the opening the rubber of the Davis Cup semi-final 5-7 4-6 7-5 4-6 to Nikolay Davydenko. He played well bu Davydenko was just on fire and Mario couldn't get past the top 10 ranked Russian.
Ivan Ljubicic leveled the tie for Croatia with a 5 set victory over Mikhail Youzhny. Mario and Ivan will team up in the doubles tomorrow to try and give Croatia a lead going into the final day.

22nd September 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario will play the opening rubber of the Davis Cup Semi-final taking place in Split tomorrow. He will face Nikolay Davydenko.There is a video of Mario the ATP site in which he talks about his career, how he started and the possibility of playing mixed doubles with Sanja one day.

20th September 2005 - Co-Site News For those of you who visit my other site Gineprifans and are wondering what is currently happening. I thought I would let you guys know. Quite simply I am moving hosts. and the Domain name is transferring! it shoul be down for no longer than 72 hours. I appologise for the inconvenience but it is so I can add extras to the site. 17th September 2005 - Sanja Ancic News Sanja lost her semi-final to Barrois 0-6 2-6. This was stil a greta singles tournament for Sanja it is only the 2nd time she has got so deep into a $25k tournament. There is also good news Ancic/Paszek defeated Cortez/Cosinska 6-7(9-11) 6-2 6-4 in the final of the doubles. The first set alone took over 100 minutes and the match as a whole over 3 hours, they did well to come back after losing that first set and win the title Congratulations girls :)

16th September 2005 - Sanja Ancic News Sorry about the delay the results have been slow coming in for the Sofia $25,000 challenger so in one big go i get to tell you of numerous victories by Sanja, everybody say yay. oh go on! oh okay I'll tell you the scores then you say yay. In round 2 of the singles Sanja beat #7 seed Adriana Barna 7-5 4-6 7-5. In the Quarter-finals Sanja beat wildcard Maria Penkova 6-2 7-5.
In the doubles Ancic/Paszek defeated Jimenez/Munoz 6-1 7-6(7-2) then got a walkover in quarter-finals over (3)Niculescu/Niculescu after Monica Niculescu withdrew with an injury. Ancic/Paszek reached the final with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Pavlova/Timotic. Keep it up Sanja we're proud of you :). So now you say yay?

14th September 2005 - Sanja Ancic News Only 2 matches were completed in Sofia today before rain interupted play, thus Sanja will play her second round game tomorrow instead.

13th September 2005 - Sanja Ancic News Sanja did not have to play the qualifiers in Sofia as she got directly into the main draw due to withdrawls. She won her first round match over qualifier Sladjana Stankovic 6-2 6-2. She is also playing in the doubles her first round match will be Ancic/Paszek vs. Jimenez/Munoz.

8th September 2005 - Sanja Ancic News Sanja played in the $25,0000 Mestre event this week, she won her first round match against Giulia Casoni of Italy 6-1 2-0 (retired) but then lost in the 2nd round to world #176 Kyra Nagy 6-7(0) 1-6. Sanja is also scheduled to play in a challenger even in Bulgaria next week. She is seeded second in the qualifying. We'll let you know when we have any results from this.

5th September 2005 - Sanja Ancic News I've had a few emails asking me this so I just thought I would post it. Sanja will NOT being playing in the US Open juniors. She is however in teh qualifying entry list for a few upcoming tournaments we will let you know when it is certain which ones she will be competing in.

3rd September 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario Ancic and Ivan Ljubicic failed in their attempt to reach the 3rd round of the doubles at the US Open losing a close fought battle with Mahesh Bhupathi and Martin Damm 7-6 3-6 7-6 (8-6). The boys played well but just couldn't convert the final tie break.

2nd September 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario fought but eventually went down 6-4 5-7 7-6 6-3 to Novak Dojokovik in the 2nd round. He broke first in the first set but couldn't hold on to set and lost it. He came back in the 2nd and played well in the 3rd but couldn't take the tie break. He had the trainer called out during the 4th set and was given treatment on his left thigh. However all is not lost Mario and Ivan are still in the doubles and they are scheduled to play 4th on court 13 tomorrow. They will face #13 seeds Mahesh Bhupathi (IND) and Martin Damm (CZE). 1st September 2005 - Mario News Tomorrow's US Open schedule has been announced Mario will play his 2nd round match against Novak Djokovic 2nd on court 11. Mario and Ivans doubles match does not appear to be on tomorrows schedule so presumably they will play on Saturday.

31st August 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario Ancic teamed up with Ivan Ljubicic in the first round of the US Open doubles today and beat the Czech team of David Skoch and Radek Stepanek 6-2 7-6(7-0). They will face Mahesh Bhupathi/Martin Damm in the 2nd round presumably on Friday. Mahesh Bhupati was one half of the team Ljubicic and Ancic beat in the bronze medal play off at the Athens Olympic last year he was partnered with Paes on that occasion. It'll be a tough match Good Luck boys.
Tomorrow's order of play has been announced. Mario will not play tomorrow as originally expected he will instead play on Friday against Novak Djokovik, Mario often trains with Djokovik and they are good friends so it should be an interesting match to watch.

30th August 2005 - Mario & Sanja News Mario and Sanja now each have an extra supporter, their new 3 day old niece. Ajmo Mario and Ajmo Sanja would like to congratulate Ivica Ancic and his wife on the birth of their baby girl Congratulations. We hope she brings the family much luck and happiness.

28th August 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario Ancic will begin his US Open tilt tomorrow he plays against Hyung-Taik Lee first on court 8, at 11am New York time, thats 4pm GMT and 5pm CET I couldn't tell you what that is elsewhere I'm not that good :p
The US Open Doubles draw has also been confirmed Ancic will partner Ivan Ljubicic. They meet the Czech pairing of David Skoch and Radek Stepanek in the first round.

23rd August 2005 - Mario Ancic News The US Open has confirmed the seedings today. Mario Ancic will be the #22 seed, his current entry ranking is 23 but due to Joachim Johansson's long term injury he goes up one. The draw should be made tomorrow. We will get this posted up here sometime tomorrow. Lets hope he gets a good one.

18th August 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario lost to Lleyton Hewitt in the 3rd Round of the Cincinnati Masters 6-1 6-4, Mario never really looked comfortable and the Australian dominated the first set, Mario settled down in the second but couldn't withstand Hewiit. Mario will next play in the US Open starting August 29th.

17th August 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario is through to the 3rd Round of the Cincinnati masters following a comfortable 6-4 7-5 win over young French ace Richard Gasquet. He will face Lleyton Hewitt in the tomorrow Mario has never faced the Australian before.

16th August 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario and Ivan lost their first round doubles match today, leaving Mario free to concentrate on the singles. Richard Gasquet beat Feliciano Lopez to book his places in round 2, Mario will face him tomorrow the pair have met once before with the young frenchman coming out on top. Lets hope Mario reverses that tomorrow.
Sanja Ancic News Sanja played in the $25,000 Kedzierzyn Kozle in poland but unfortunately lost 1st round to fellow Croatian Nadja Pavic 3-6 2-6.

15th August 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario booked his place in round 2 of the Cincinnati Masters with a 6-2 6-3 victory over Brazilian Ricardo Mello. He will face either Richard Gasquet or Feliciano Lopez on Wednesday.
Mario will also be in action on the doubles court this week partnering Ivan Lujbicic, they will face Cyril Suk and Pavel Vizner presumably tomorrow.

12th August 2005 - Mario Ancic News Mario put up a good fight against Greg Rusedski but was taken out in 3 sets in the 3rd round of the Canadian Masters. He will next play in Cincinnati starting on Monday.
Mario has appointed Fredrik Rosengren as his new coach, Fredrik is the former coach of Jonas Bjorkman, Magnus Norman and Joachim Johansson, he replaces Rohan Goetzke who parted ways with Mario after Wimbledon to coach the Dutch youth team.
