Earth eclipse (2002)

Lunar eclipse

This is a recreation of the way an earth eclipse (or a lunar eclipse, sight from moon) could be seen when the sun is reapperaring in the east side of earth. The red tonalities are caused by the sunlight passing along the earth atmosfere, which filters the blue component of sunlight and allows pass away the red light. That's the reason why the moon turns red when a Lunar eclipse happens. This image was created for the cover of the book Astronomía Para Todos (Observatorio Astronómico Nacional).
