Ownership
The airport is owned by Manchester Airport Group (82.7%) and North Lincolnshire Council (17.3%). It used to be owned Humberside County Council. When Humberside was abolished, the airport was split between the 4 unitary authorities that make up the old county of Humberside. Only North Lincolnshire, the county which the airport is in, has retained it's stake.
During 2008 Manchester Airport Group tried to sell the airport, but at the end of the year decided to retain it.
Location/How to get here
Humberside Airport is located on the A18, just east of M180, Junction 5, near to Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Hull and Barton Upon Humber. Local buses serve the main road. The airport terminal is served by the Humber Flyer bus service between Hull, Grimsby and Cleethorpes, which is operated by Stagecoach and runs every hour, Monday to Saturday daytimes - http://www.stagecoachbus.com/grimsbycleethorpes/humberflyer.html
The nearest railway station is Barnetby, though there is no public transport link from the airport. Trains run east to Habrough, Grimsby and Cleethorpes (once or twice an hour), and west to Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Shefield, Manchester (all hourly), Lincoln and Newark (about every two hours). Train operators are Transpennine Express, Northern Rail and East Midlands Trains. Connections are available to London, Scotland and North East England, the Midlands and the South West at Newark, Doncaster and/or Sheffield. (Frequencies are Monday to Saturday daytime).
Facilities
There is one short stay car park and three long stay car parks. Car parking is free for up to 15 minutes in car park 1. All car parks are in walking distance of the terminal. Taxis are available outside the terminal building.
In the terminal there is a restaurant, shop, travel agent, information desk, airtours childrens play area and sandwich bar. There are 2 hire car companies on site. An executive lounge is available, operated by Servisair.
Other Information
Ground Handling is provided by Servisair and Eastern Airways with Bagagge Handling and cleaning services provided by ICS on behalf of Servisair.
Eastern Airways are based on site. They have their headquaters, maintenance base and flight simulators on site, with some of their fleet usually present. while CHC helicopters have a hanger here to support their oil rig support helicopter flights, run from the helicopter terminal. This is located next to the main passenger terminal. KLM Cityhopper also have a crew base at the airport (both flight and cabin crew).
There a number of on site flying schools and general aviation thrives at the airport. Humberside Police base their helicopter at the airport. Roissy International operate the Hangar 9 aircraft maintenance facility
