Welcome Air Humberside, a website about my local airport, Humberside (HUY/EGNJ). The site contains information about the airport, including its history and details of all scheduled, charter and cargo flights. There is also a section on Humberside based airline, Eastern Airways. If you have any comments, please leave them in the forum. You do not have to register if you dont want to. Thank you for visiting

The Forum

Unfortuantely our previous forums have been suffering from technical techinical problems. Therefore we have new forums at http://airhumberside.proboards80.com/index.cgi Previous members will have to re-register I'm afraid. The old forums have been locked but can still be visited to view old posts at http://www.phpbber.com/phpbb/index.php?mforum=airhumberside

You can discuss Humberside Airport and more in our free forums. Our forums are the best place to get news, rumours and information about Humberside Airport. You can also ask questions about the airport. Our forums also cover other airports, including Aberdeen, Doncaster and Southend. Eastern Airways and Civil Aviation also have their own forums while anything else can be discussed in the 'Other Topics' section. Registration is strongly encouraged but not compulsory.

Air Humberside Photos

The Air Humberside Fotopic website contains a number of photographs from Humberside Airport; some date from the 1990's and there are also more recent photos. As well as photos from Humberside, there are some from other airports including Amsterdam and Manchester. Why not take a look? If you have some photos to contribute, from any airport in the world, please post in the Air Humberside Forums and I will reply ASAP.

News

10/5/09 - Major blow for Humberside as Thomas Cook axes Winter 2009/10 charter programme

After a seemingly successful winter season at Humberside, Thomas Cook have axed next winter's programme. This was due to include weekly flights to Lanzarote and Tenerife from November to April, and weekly flights to Gran Canaria in November and from February to April, using an outbased B757-200 aircraft from in house airline Thomas Cook Airlines. While no indication of profits, many flights this winter went out with over 90% loads, based on Civil Aviation Authority Statistics, indicating clear demand for Canary Island flights from Humberside.

This move leaves the only regular charter flight from Humberside next winter as a weekly flight to Innsbruck during the ski season. Sad, very sad.

12/4/09 - Summer 2009 Timetable

12/4/09 - Airline change

New tour operator to Humberside, Holidays4u, shall be using Pegasus Airlines for their Dalaman flights this summer, meaning a welcome return to Humberside for the Turkish airline. Onur Air, who were originally planned to be operating the flights, shall still be operating Goldtrail Holidays Turkish programme.

2/3/09 - Summer 2009 Charter Update

Updating the previous news post on this issue, these are the main points regarding this summer's charter flights:

  • Destinations axed: Faro (Algarve), Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria (remains in winter), Ibiza, Lanzarote (remains in winter), Menorca, Tenerife (remains in winter)
  • Weekly flights cut from 2 to 1 to Bourgas
  • 1 weekly Dalaman flight axed by Thomas Cook, and the other moved to Sunday (was Monday and Friday)
  • Goldtrail Holidays services to Bodrum and Dalaman, operated by Onur Air will not start until July, and end in September
  • Thomas Cook Airlines will operate the Saturday Palma and Sunday Antalya and Dalaman flights - Palma and Antalys will use B757 aircraft
  • No more Air Europa, Iberworld, Pegasus, Spanair or Sun Express flights at Humberside
  • And one piece of good news, a new tour operator to Humberside; Holidays 4u - offering Thursday flights to Dalaman from July to September with Onur Air

Of course things are liable to change (again)!

20/1/09 - Tony Lavan Interview

Tony Lavan, the airport Managing Director, has given a very long interview to the Grimsby Telegraph. Not much new, but the key points are:

  • Growth not likely again until 2010
  • Further passenger figure falls expected
  • 24 extra CHC Scotia helicopter flights a week have started recently
  • The airport, with partners, is looking to get the Icelandair flights that moved to East Midlands back, but they need a backload to Iceland
  • The airport hotel plan is being mentioned again
  • And maybe another maintenance hangar

8/1/09 - Site Updates

The review of 2008 has now been added to the site, and various pages including Airline Information and Eastern Airways have been updated.

5/1/09 - Fotopic update

Air Humberside Fotopic is back online.

3/1/09 - Air Humberside Fotopic and site news

The Air Humberside Fotopic site is currently unavailable due to problems with it's provider, fotopic. It is unclear if this is due to technical problems or if it is gone for good. Update to follow.

I hope to update various pages of the site in the next few days, some of which are now rather outdated. I have archived the old logs on a separate page and updated the Helicopters page. There should also be a review of 2008 coming shortly.

In the past few days this site has got it's 20,000th hit after about 4 years and a month. Lets hope the next 20000 come a bit quicker. Thanks to everyone for their support since I started Air Humberside in 2004. Finally can I wish everyone a happy new year!

18/12/08 - Flybe take over Jersey on a scheduled basis

Flybe will take over the regular summer Saturday charter flight to Jersey next year, and operate it on a scheduled basis. The flight runs from May to September and is the airport's only low cost service.

18/12/08 - No longer for sale

Manchester Airport Group (MAG), majority owner of Humberside Airport, have withdrawn it from sale. Positive developments at the airport, and the economic climate are cited as the reasons for the decision. MAG cite the new Bristow Helicopters operation, the continued success of KLM's service and the new perishables hub, as well as unspecified possible future developments as reasons for retained ownership but also the economic downturn and start of a recession. Can't find a buyer prepared to pay what MAG want, or genuine good future prospects? Time will tell. The decison has been welcomed by minority owner, North Lincolnshire Council.

31/10/08 - Winter 2009/10

Thomas Cook and MyTravel have released their winter 2009/2010 programme. Lanzarote and Tenerife remain all winter, Gran Canaria operates in November and from February to April while there are Larnaca flights in April 2010. See our forum for more information - http://airhumberside.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=charter&action=display&thread=253&page=1

22/8/08 - 2nd Helicopter Operator

Humberside is to welcome Bristow helicopters from Monday - they will base a S61N helicopter at Humberside for North Sea Oil and Gas offshore work. This will be in addition to the CHC Scotia operator and is Bristow's 2nd time with a base at Humberside. Good luck to them and who says the increase in oil prices is all bad news? - http://airhumberside.proboards80.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=other&thread=79&page=1

28/7/08 - New flight for Summer 2009 - more Turkey

No I have not gone funny in the head, Humberside does appear to have secured a new flight next summer - a 4th Dalaman flight operated for 2 months in peak summer (16th July to 24th September) for Holidays4u and Aegean Flights - both new operators for Humberside. The airline will be Onur Air. See this forum thread for more information - http://airhumberside.proboards80.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=charter&thread=7&page=1

8/7/08 - NEW Air Humberside Forum

Unfortuantely the Air Humberside Forums have been suffering from technical difficulties with the forum provider.
