Hiya. :]
I'm Aine Connor and I'm a writer. In fact, I'm a writer who writes (you'd be surprised how few of those there are!). I write everything: song lyrics, poetry, flash fiction, short stories and I'm working on a novel (or two! ;))
This website isn't going to make me any money. It's not going to attract any attention from an agent or publisher. It's not going to make me a household name like JK Rowling.
But you know what it will do?
You'll know my name. That's my thinking, anyway.
My thought process goes something like this:
I'll finally have a published book. You will walk into a bookstore and the cover will be intriguing. You'll say, "Hey. That's kinda neat! Maybe I'll take a look at that." You'll pick it up and across the bottom will be 'Aine Connor'. Your mind will go, "I've read that name somewhere." There will be a spark of recognition. And maybe, just maybe, your next thought will be, "You know, she's a pretty good writer! I think I WILL take a look at this."
And then you'll turn to page one.
And hey, even if that doesn't happen, hopefully you'll read something I have here and you'll smile. Or you'll laugh. Or you'll cry. Or you'll yell. Hopefully you'll love me. Maybe you'll hate me. "That's the worst $@*! I've ever read!" Both are fine. Actually, they're great. The one thing I don't want you to walk away with is indifference or apathy or indecision. "Eh. It was okay. Not bad. Not great." No. I want you to make up your mind. I want my writing to make your mind up for you. I want an emotion so all-encompassing that you'll have to stop and gather yourself and remind yourself that it's just a story.
Perfect example: My best friend read one of my flash fiction pieces and she started crying. She then threw the manuscript at me and yelled so loud I thought her vocal cords would go on strike. "WTF?!?! I hate you! Why do you have to write such sad stories??? How could you DO that?!?!"
My response was to let rip a bloodcurdling: "YES!!!" I whooped and hollered and danced around like a madwoman. I truly believe she had thought I had gone insane.
But I hadn't. I had achieved my purpose: to extract an emotion through my writing. My first real victory. And the one that will always matter the most to me.
Take time to pore through these pages. There may not be much at first, but time will add more. I never stop writing. And each new product is simply another possible addition to the site. Leave me comments on what you thought. Tell me if it affected you . . . or not. Critique my stories. I never turn down free advice!! Story ideas also work, and if I use one, I will give credit where it is due.

And if this site hasn't been updated in awhile: PLEASE e-mail me and politely (or not, either way) remind me to get my @$$ in gear and type something up.
