SCA Related Things
Society for Creative Anachronism Links
There's not much here yet, at least not much of any specificity
about my involvement in the SCA. In a nutshell, I live in
the Barony of Jararvellir,
Principality of Northshield,
Middle Kingdom. My
persona is a 10th Century Scot named
Aine ingen MaelPatraic.
If you're looking for the handouts for my List Administration 101 class, go here.
Below is essentially my file of
SCA related bookmarks as of 4/7/01. I am not
responsible for the content of any of these pages, however many of them have been very
useful for me as I continue to learn more and more in the Society.
These are not intended to be an exhaustive list of what's out there, but is simply what
I've found interesting so far and remembered to bookmark. *smile* I am by no means an
expert in any of the areas listed below, however, I am more than willing to discuss what I
do know. If you'd like to contact me for any SCA related reason, please
email me.
UPDATE: I've started going through the links here and cleaning up things like
broken and changed links, and also clearing out some that aren't really SCA appropriate or no longer contain the content that
brought me to them originally. I'm also trying to annotate the links and will add any new links that I've come across in the past three
and a half years. I'm also trying to consolidate some links and will eventually get around to reorganizing this page into one with frames
to make it easier to navigate. Be patient.. it'll get there.

Enjoy!
- Sharon B's In a Few Minutes Ago, which includes a rather exhaustive
Collection of Stitches for Hand Embroidery page.
- Software for Needlework, which is pretty much what
it sounds like - a page full of various software products for needlework, mostly for pattern and chart drafting.
- The Victoria Sampler, based in Canada. From their web site:
"The Victoria Sampler is a Needlework Distribution Company which is dedicated to providing timeless Needlework
Designs, excellent service and a friendly responsive attitude to all our customers. Through our products and
Cyberclasses, we aim to provide a warm and safe learning environment to new stitchers."
- The Rampant Badger Brewery contains lots of cordial
recipes (and a few for beer and mead as well).
- Eachna's Celtic Brewing Page From the web site:
"This site is an online reference for re-creational medievalism, which involves making a sincere effort to reproduce
the lifestyle of a race or region of the distant past. I am part of an organization dedicated to re-enacting life
as a member of the Fifth Century (AD/CE) Irish Celtic nobility."
- Barony Marche of the Debatable Lands Brewers' Guild,
includes some recipes and handouts from classes on brewing
- Cordial Recipes for a raspberry and a tangerine
cordial.
- Precious Waters: A miscellany of early cordials by
Forester Nigel FitzMaurice. 12 cordial recipes redacted from various 14th century sources.
- Medieval/Renaissance Brewing Homepage. A good source for
period documentation, articles, links to some guilds in the SCA and a handful of recipes.
- Cindy Renfrow - A Sip Through Time. A Sip Through Time
contains over 400 recipes drawn from Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and Rome, Medieval Europe, and 17th, 18th, and
19th century America and Europe. No stone has been left unturned in my quest to find authentic, documented period
recipes for Ale, Beer, Mead, Metheglin, Cider, Perry, Brandy, Liqueurs, Distilled Waters, Hypocras, Wines, Caudles,
Possets, and Syllabubs. This link will bring you to a page where you can purchase the book directly from Cindy Renfrow.
- The Mead Maker's Page. A good modern source for getting started
with mead terms and techniques. Lots of recipes.
- Cindy Renfrow - Brewing History Links. From the author
of A Sip Through Time, a list of links containing information on brewing throughout history.
