Genesis Aikido Club Celebrates 7th Foundation Anniversary
Genesis Aikido Club – branch dojo of
International Shuyokan Aikido Federation and the most active Aikido
organization in Saudi Arabia, headed by Sensei Ronald Nilo celebrated
its 7th Anniversary recently. The celebration was attended by the
members and instructors from the different chapters and affiliated
dojos of Genesis Aikido Club all over the kingdom, as well as the
member clubs of Asian Martial Arts Federation headed by Sifu Romeo
“Boy” Buayan who was the Master Guest Instructor.
It was a busy day for all the members
of Genesis Aikido Club who participated in the 3-set Aikido seminars,
competitions, demonstrations and exhibitions. Sensei Nilo conducted the
first seminar for beginners, ladies and kids, as well as the final
seminar for senior students and instructors. Sensei Ferdie & Sensei
Billy instructed on the second seminar for intermediate students.
The crowd uproared as 4-year old Toto Dammang threw
his partner in one of the most exciting exhibitions seen in the event.
Sensei Nilo gave him a special award and medal for his exemplary
performance. Fahad Al-Marwani, Asia-Sary’s superman,
broke the record of previous events by flying over 9 men side-by-side,
to win in the Long Thrust Event. He also won the High Thrust event,
thereby getting two (2) gold medals. Sempai Fahad Al-Balawi won the “Best in Kote Gaeshi” Award, while Sempai Abdulrahman Saeed Bajunaied won the “Best in Shiho Nage”. Asia–Heraa Team members Marlon Iguiron, Mohmed Al-Assmari, Manny Zuniega II, Divino Luces and Sultan Al-Harby won the “Best in Randori” (Multiple-attack practice) Award. PHIMACA Team members Sensei Joseph Cayat, Norly Sajonia, Ronald Lim, Felix Villalva, Edwin Gonzales and Rene Rafer won the “Best in Exhibition” Award. All the attending instructors acted as judges in the competitions.
The following members were also promoted during the celebration: Abdulrahman Saeed Bajunaied – 1st kyu (brown belt), Fahad Al-Balawi, Ehab Elsaudi Gamal & Marlon Iguiron – 2nd kyu (blue belt), Mohmed Al-Assmari – 3rd kyu (yellow belt) and Elesio Sarabia –
5th kyu (green belt). All attendees were given certificates of
participation. Special certificates of appreciation were given to Sensei Ferdie Silva & Sensei Bonn Abando for their commendable support and participation.

where Sensei Nilo regularly trains every night.
Sifu Romeo “Boy” Buayan announced
during the event about the forthcoming 18th AMAF Karate and Kickboxing
Tournament to be held on September 24 & October 1, 2004. Selected
members of Genesis will be participating in the Kickboxing Event.
