Birth Of An Angel

I was born in Bethlehem Pennsylvania on March 23rd, 1994. I weighed 6.4lbs and was 19" tall. I was delivered by an emergency c-section due to cords around my neck. (I just didn't want to leave my mom you know) Finally I was born quite blue. So the docs took me into the infants ICU. There I was treated for strep infection and was discharged after 10 days.

Home Atlast

I had gained weight and looked good. My parents were very proud of me. A week later my parents noticed that I was sleeping more and not feeding very well. I however had the most gorgeous smile and my mom would put away any doubts she had and would just sit staring at me. I would even smile in my sleep.

Ten Days Later

Ten days passed and my mom really started getting worried now. My parents took me to the pediatrician with concerns that I was sleeping a lot, not feeding and not having bowel movements at all. The pediatrician said that many babies who are nursing do not poop for a week and that sleeping for a  new born was not unusual. He also said that a lot of new moms do not know how much milk is consumed when the baby is nursing. So my parents took the docs word and went back.

Two weeks Later

Three days later my mom noticed that I was not waking up at all. There were no sleepy smiles. I weighed lighter and my skin changed color and was dark. So my parents took me to the doctor again. Only to hear the same things he said previously. My parents decided that they need to go for a second opinion soon after my dad returned from a work related trip to California. My mom was left with my Grandma who was there visiting from India to help out. Later that evening the pediatrician called my mom.
