When I was 18 months of age, I was elected to be the representative of Easter seals while they had their network celebrations. I had a photo shoot, I got to be on the local newspaper, radio and tv. It was a great experience.
When I was three and a half I was chosen as a representative for Scribbles and Giggles, a day care that is specifically designed for children with special needs. I got to be on their float for the Christmas parade. I truly loved being on that float and being applauded by people who were waiting to see our float go by on the street sides.
I participate in special olympics almost every year and I have quite a few medals to boast of. I love races and games. I get very excited when people clap and encourage. My team 'Kiwanis', from school has won several trophies for various competitions such as the 100m relay, 100m dash and I am proud to say that I belong to that team.
I have participated in various events representing Jeena (A non profit organization dedicated to support special need kids and their families). That includes their annual awareness day called Jeena Yahaan. I am participating in line dance for Jeena Yahaan this year.
I also had the oppurtunity to participate in Kalakendra - School of fine arts fund raiser for Jeena. I participated in their dance drama called 'The Ugly Duckling'. I was one of the swans. I truly enjoy being on stage. An
article covering the event was published in the local newspaper.
I graduated from my elementary school in 2006. The graduation ceremony was very memorable since I was asked to lead the whole school with pledge of the legends. It was a true moment of pride, especially because my grandparents were visiting me from India and they were present for the ceremony. For more pictures, check out my album.
