Welcome to the AIANH Young Architects Design Competition 2009.
This year the competition is based on a new sustainable Office / Education Center for the town of Ossipee

The Program is approx. 3,400+/- s.f. (just program space, not incl. ancillary space necessary: circulation, mechanical, structure, etc. which the designer is responsible for including).
Thus the overall building square footage may vary based on design (ex. using 25% as a factor for ancillary space the overall building sf = 4,250).
They have asked for the exterior aesthetic of the building to be "contextually appropriate." "Not too contemporary."
- 6 Offices w/ generous closets (6 educators at least 10' x 13')
- Reception Space for two support space adjacent to 6 educator offices.
- Large workroom with (Table, Photocopier, Fax, Folding Machine, paper & supply storage, scanning workstation with desk)
- Area for public to view aerial photos (Table(s) as photo size and quantity viewed may vary)
- Large Storage Room (at least 250 sf)
- Full kitchen area with adjoining small meeting space (which is adjacent to large meeting space)
- Large Meeting Space (40 - 50 ppl. w/ room for teleconferencing equip.) - room will be used for distance learning in future
- Two toilet rooms
- Would like designers to investigate using a Geothermal system for heating and cooling. (As well as other sustainable design practices designers feel are appropriate)
The only people working in the building will be the Cooperative extension staff (7 total at one time).
Access and Parking: Can be shared with Administrative building adjacent to proposed site as land is owned by Cooperative extension.
(Though is not required to be shared if you wish not to)
- Parking should be more than or equal to enough spaces to fulfill code requirements for occupancy or 20 in addition to shared lot.
All design work should focus on the prposed site shown on the Location Maps on th o1. Location Page. Thoughts are welcomed for entire 883 acre parcel (trail network, etc) but the focus and design should be on our prposed site.
Building location is totally at the discretion and preference of each designer. TOPOGRAPHY is coming Soon.
