Mike Ferrell was a cadet at North Meck last year. He is now in the Middle East with the USAF. Here is an e-mail he sent to all of us at North Meck JROTC. If you can send him an e-mail and show him some Viking love. Go Mike!
I started a long time ago in JROTC when I was in the 9th grade and I stuck with it. In the 10th grade I started getting involved with activities after school and had a blast for my 11th and 12th grade years. SMSgt Siebert, SMSgt Summerville, Chief Miller, and Col Wolf transformed me into a well behaved, disciplined kid as my mom has told me many times. I joined the military, became a cop, and I got stationed at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC. Not long after being at my base I got stationed in the 379 Air Expeditionary Forces Squadron at Al Udied Air Base in Doha, Qatar. I’ve been here for about a week and have about 170 days left. I just wanted to say that things are real here, people here don’t have a life like in the US. The woman can’t even show there face, they have to wear something over it. Listen up to your instructors because someday you will look back on it and I promise you are going to wish that you listened to them when they were letting you know about survival, drill, etc. There is meaning behind it, you have lots of liberties because you live where you do so don’t abuse life.
Hey it is Mike, I just wanted to say hi on behalf of everyone here and keep supporting us the way that you instructors do by teaching JROTC and wearing that uniform proud everyday.
Email me back,
Mike
