I passed my candidacy exam (This is the second part part of the
qualifying exam series held for Caltech ME,CE and AM PhD students).
10/06/06: The quals results are
annouced...I passed ...Thanks God! ...And what a coincidence; this
comes on the 33rd anniversary of October's war 1973 to make it an
unforgettable memory.
10/04/06: My Third qualification exam...Subject: Math...Alhamdullah!
10/03/06: My Second qualification exam...Subject: Dynamics....Alhamdullah!
10/02/06: My first qualification exam....Subject: Solids.....Alhamdullah!
08/12/06: My wedding ceremony...I got married to my cousin Sara....Congratulations!! ( I mean you should say Congratulations :) )
06/09/06: The Commencement...I walked for getting an MSc in Applied Mechanics ....I am both very happy and proud!
05/29/06: Done with my last exam in the first year.!!
05/02/06: I successfully delivered my
mid-term presentation in Prof. Zewail's class about molecular
underpinning of friction...Thanks God!
04/04/06: My first meeting with the Nobel Laurette in Chemistry Prof. Ahmed Zewail in the organizational meeting for the research class he is offering for that term...I would burst out of joy
03/26/06: Back to school...The spring quarter began.
03/24/06: I and Mohamed Aly (one of my dearest friends and my colleague at Caltech) went for a trip to Santa Monica Beach !!
03/18/06: I am done with the winter quarter..Thanks God! It was far better than the first one and I can feel I am back on the track
01/04/06: Back to Pasadena for the winter quarter.
12/15/05: Heading back to Egypt for
the Christmas vacation...What you might not know is that I have not told my family that I am coming...You could imagine how strong the
surprise would be.
12/09/05: Oooh! I am done with the first quarter ...Overall performance: OK but I am hoping for better.
09/26/05: First Day of instruction for my first quarter in Caltech....with mixed feelings of ambition and anxiety !

ever at the United States. My uncle Mohammed Elbanna was waiting for me
at the JFK airport. (Between: Without that man's continuous support, I
might not have been here !)
