According to Nancy Pugliese, the Safe & Drug-Free Schools Coordinator at the CT Board of Education:
**"All but approximately $12,000 has been awarded"
**"The CT State Board of Education did not receive the full allocation of $500,000 that was originally provided in the legislation; the legislators used a portion of the $500,000 to balance the budget." (That must mean legislators used $519, 199 of the Safe School Grant allocation towards balancing the budget )
**"The $12,000 will be carried over into the next year due to the fact that many of the districts did not apply for the full amount that they were entitled to (based upon student population numbers). Terefore, if they apply for the full amount next year, the CT Board of Education would not have enough money to cover the full awards."
