As early as 1982, when they founded the Agócsi-Tüske Duo, the two Hungarian born classical guitarists and composers János Agócsi and András Tüske have already been famous for their sound, which successfully combines jazz with folk-elements, and were awarded with an entry into the Hungarian Music Lexicon. Their rich and distinguished compositions won them quickly the recognition of national and international specialist audiences, critics and lovers of exquisite guitar music alike. Thirteen years ago, they both left Hungary, Agócsi for Western Europe, Tüske for Australia. Both continued with their solo careers, and found also international recognition as soloists and composers. In 1999, after more than fifteen years, they came together once again in an emotianal reunion, for a European Nostalgia tour, Agócsi now also internationally known from TV, Radio and Film Productions, including Young Indiana Jones (George Lucas Prod.), Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), and as the founder-member of The First London Outsider Movement for the promotion of quality and originality in the arts, and Tüske meanwhile also being Vice President of the Classical Guitar Society of South Australia, and the first Suzuki Guitar Teacher Trainer in Australia. The tour concluded in London, with the memorable charity concert for the Turkish Relief Fund being one of the many highlights of their amazing collaboration. |

János Agócsi - classical & Portuguese guitars András Tüske - classical & bass guitars, zither All compositions by János Agócsi Copyright © 2006 by ATS Records The Agócsi-Tüske Duo has been a continuous collaboration of nearly 25 years. They start their creative alliance whilst still being music students in Hungary, and are able to sustain their relationship despite the fact that Agócsi is living in Germany, and later in England and Tüske is moving to Australia.Through the many versatile projects they undergo on their own individual musical paths they both are drawing on the never-ending wealth of the many new diverse cultural spheres they are encountering. Not surprisingly they constantly integrate new sounds and instruments and enjoy the creation and development of their very own musical expression. They thrive on their unique combination of jazz, classical and world music.Beside their main instrument, the classical guitar, they are also incorporating new instruments to their repertoire. On this album they use the Portuguese and classical bass guitars and the Hungarian zither for the very first time. These instruments are usually featuring in traditional folk music, and therefore add a new and unique quality to their own original compositions and improvisations. They feature in numerous concerts, TV- and Radio broadcasts around the world. Agócsi is living in London, and Tüske has recently moved back to Budapest. They will go on a worldwide tour in 2007 to celebrate their 25th anniversary. |
