I'm quite well known on one ATC swap forum for my Oriental themed 'pop up' ATCs. These are based on a greetings card template and adapted to suit the size and style of an Artist Trading Card.
In this tutorial I've used plain card in contrasting colours and a basic template to make it easier for you differentiate between the main ATC card and the inner 'pop up' section. When you make your own pop up ATC you will obviously use decorated cards/papers and embellishments of your choice.
BASIC TOOLS and MATERIALS required - Two pieces of card both measuring 5inch by 3.5inch, pencil for marking, ruler, scissors, glue.

1. Cut two paper/card shapes 5inches across 2. Take the inner card and fold in half then 3. Turn over and repeat on the other side.
3.5inch down. Fold main card (top) in half to then take one edge and bring this back to the You should now have a concertina of three

4. Take the inner section and cut an apperture out of the 5. The two cards are now ready to 6. Glue the reverse of the entire left section (marked A)

7. This is your basic one card 'pop up'. It folds flat and then will open 8. Three 'pop ups' have been made and attached together which
out to reveal the pop up section. The apperture allows you to view open out fully to form a lantern design. 1,2, 3 even 4 cards could
through to the inside of the main card - limitless creative scope here! be joined together.

I attached red silk cord as ties to keep the ATC closed, Onced opened and secured, the knot can be used as a hanging
and this is also used to secure the piece when fully loop. Note the torn edges of the inner pop up section, inked up
opened. dipped in embossing powder and heated. The appertures are
