Hillwood, Tasmania Stud Owners:Charlie and Mary Hughes Mares: Calmar Josephine Hughes (Rosie), Weetreeda Janella, Calmar Daisy, Weetreeda Snow Angel and Calmar Blossom DOB's 1991 to 2006 heights range between 15 hh to 17.1hh with piebald, bay and chestnut colouring At Calmar (pronounced Cal-Mar) we have specially chosen a small number of mares with the aim of breeding the best Drum Horses in the country. Each horse was chosen for a reason, from being a proven broodmare with outstanding foals on the ground to the best conformation and bloodlines that can be found. In 2005 we bred our first foal out of Calmar Blossom, by Arcadian Cahirmee, purebred Gypsy Cob. The resulting foal Rosie, has not disappointed us at all and has set the mark for our stud to better. We will look for the best stallions to compliment our mares in our breeding program until we source (or breed) one that meets our standards and needs. Foals and older horses occasionally for sale.
