Canada: "A World Leader for Diversity"

While surfing the net for more information on Diversity, I thought it worthwhile to enter into the website of the FIM. For those who are not aware, the FIM (The International Federation of Musicians)  is the international organisation for musicians and is now counting 72unions throughout the world.
Recently FIM has created two regional groups; one for African countries and the other for Latin America countries
. I found the following interesting news item on the FIM website and decided to check out the organizing group mentioned below. Well, guess what? ...

The 4th Annual Conference of the International Network for Cultural Diversity will be taking place from 12 to 15 October in Opatija, Croatia. Since its creation in 2000, this movement has undergone a worldwide development and today represents NGOs from 70 countries, and the parallel network of Ministers for Culture includes 53 countries. Discussions on cultural diversity occupy an increasingly important place at the World Social Forum and other civil society events. Professional organisations are currently being mobilized after the 2nd International Meeting in Paris and the subsequent formation of eight national coalitions. The INCD’s 4th Annual Conference will bring together members, specialists, government representatives, national coalitions and others to examine the current state of the cultural diversity debate, the relationship between emerging international networks and the continuing role of civil society. Information on the INCD is available on their site: http://www.incd.net.

The International Network for Cultural Diversity is a Canadian based group supported by the Department of Canadian Heritage, the Ford Foundation and the Swedish International Development Agency!
