A Neverending Story

Love is a neverending story
Has existed from the very beginning of time.
Love is a neverending mystery
Will outlive the end of time, preying upon unsuspecting minds.

The Death of my Future
Shining star of a ten year old's universe
In my mind's eye the perfect face.
All that any female could ever desire,
With eyes so eeringly beautiful
A constant smile so full of grace.
It's you I prayed and yearned for
It's you no other man could ever replace.
Tears fall from time to time
As I mourn the death of  my future
How life was supposed to be
You're beautiful; true epitome of a man
The perfect mate for me.

No need to  perpetrate and pretend,
You're comfortable just being you.
With a heart as vast as the ocean
Overflowing with love for your family,
Friend, brother, son, father, husband.
I'll always mourn the death of my future
They say the eyes are the window to a soul
There is not enough time in the world for me glimpse a view
Your eyes emit everything, your flawless character, the very essence of you.
I could stare into them forever, get lost, and never desire to be found
Yet, the future holds no promise, it was never meant to be
I'll live life mourning the death of my future,
Wondering if your vows should have been pledged unto me.

My Love Can Be Your Guide

My love can be your guide
Your pleasure map to the land of freedom
With well built roads to lead the way
     Establishing new landmarks everyday.
My love can be your guide
Words of encouragement in your ear
      Leading and standing beside you
Free your soul; let my love guide you.
My love can be your guide
To changing seasons, through it all
Shining sun upon you on a stormy day
Overcome every obstacle, let my love lead the way.
Through changing moods, spring, summer, and fall
Warm and protect you thru winter; snowflakes and all.
My love will be your guide
Your rainbow on a rainy day
Can touch your heart and soothe your soul
Sit back, relax, let love control
This love flight to the land of freedom
Leave your inhibitions home, cuz u won't need 'em.

I KNOW IT'S LOVE

I know it's love cuz you fill my thoughts every single minute
And I feel like, my world would end if you weren't in it.

I love your walk, the way you talk, ever thing about you
You've stolen my heart and I can't live without you.

Your arms are my shelter, our thoughts are twins
Solid foundation cuz first we were friends.

I know it's love cuz thru trials and tribulations, no matter what you do
I'll never purposely let you down, cause pain, ever give up on you.

When in your presence, time stops and ceases to exist
Your whispers, touch, taste, & smell appeal to all my five senses.

Always within my vicinity, your manly essence, your masculinity
Constantly turns me on consciously, subconsciously, and subliminally.

Though the envious pursue you they all soon realize
That they can't ever measure up and be ME in your leyes.
For a decade plus, our hearts, bodies, & souls remain entertwined
I  know it's love cuz you love me unselfishly and I KNOW you're all mine.

 THE WRONG APPROACH

Hmmph...what is this brotha talkin bout?
He'll make me scream and make me shout.
Ha! I aint tryin to hear that see!
Get out my face...don't look at me.
Wit' yo bubblegum "rap" and horrid stutter.
Puh leezee! I am that sista like no other.
Intelligent, strong, soulful,  proud my brotha.

Respect my flow and get to know,
Who I truly am, my inner glow.
Have your shhh... together and come correct.
Cuz my mind is da bomb; my safety net.
I won't settle for less..don't take no mess,
My love would blow your mind, but I digress
Cuz...I won't tolerate your nastiness.

Don't feel bad bro, lift up your head
Take full heed to all I said.
Change your way of thinking, and realize
Next time you view me thru those eyes,
Dream all you want, just don't tell me
Or any other sista you see,
The physical things that you can't do
Although your mouth says you want to.
Instead.. show respect and say hello
I'm not your b..tch and not your hoe!

You Could Be

You could be my soulmate
Your heart is pure and true.
You could be my soulmate
My heartbeat's in sync with you.
You could be my soulmate
   You've soothed my aching soul.
You could be my soulmate
    Lifelong companionship the goal.
You could be my soulmate
   My eyes are opened wide.
You could be my soulmate
I crave you by my side.
You could be my soulmate
   "What if " I think... I see!
You could be my soulmate
The one true love for me.

Love Provides

Love gave me, it saved me,
love never left.
Love caught me, it taught me,
a lesson I've kept.
Love listened, love learned,
Heartfelt joy love has churned.
Love led me, it fed me,
my love fire burns for
My man by my side.
Love conquered, it leashed me,
Love  gave me my pride.

A Beautiful Feeling

It’s truly amazing
The feeling of connecting with someone
Someone who makes your soul tap dance
Finally finding your soul mate in a sense
Unlike anything you could imagine
Unexpected but just right
And just in time
Like hitting the lottery of love
Yes, just like that
And it’s such a beautiful feeling
The kind when your heart goes pitter patter
And skips a few beats in the process
When the thought of them brings a smile to your face
And both can feel the energy between you
The feeling where compatibility is like a hand in glove
Both physically and mentally
Not quite love at first sight but damn near
Let’s call it love after the first night
Whatever you decide
I’ll just stick with
A beautiful feeling.

HE IS

He is the epitome of Sexy
His aura will enslave you from your head down to your toes.
He is passionate, opinionated, straightforward
So alluring, enticing, superb, will make you pledge your soul.

He is the epitome of Fire
Eyes of embers, blazing fire, from your head down to ya toes.
He is hot, sensual, succulent, chocolate, sweet
In those arms you'll be His love slave, no inhibitions left exposed.

He is the epitome of strength
Not easily stereotyped; speaks out, never sits at the back of the bus.
He is intelligent, ambitious, hard-working, committed, confident
A chameleon, constantly adjusting, powerful; God's present just for us.

He is the epitome of power
A lover, father, brother, uncle, and friend.
Failure is never an option, always maintaining
He is him, He is you, He is he.... the African American man.

Whatever Happened to Long-Lasting Relationships?

The world has changed drastically over the years, and the word love has little or no meaning, because selfishness, disloyalty, and a lack of concern for others has become the majority's  "norm".  People no longer enter relationships with the hope of  "forever". Relationships end for many different reasons.  Many people don't  take the time to really get to know each other before starting new  relationships.  A few, carry excess baggage from their old relationships into their new relationships.  Others, are selfish and expect their mates to cater to their every whim and "go with the flow" of their daily mood swings.  Still others are disloyal and dishonest, yet wanting to "have their cake and eat it too".  Worse of all, many people fail to discuss their individual finances upfront which can cause problems later.

Often times,  new relationships are doomed from the start, because people forget how important it is to become friends before being lovers.  Many people feel that because they sense a mental connection, things are meant to be- so why wait? Or they lack self-control, become intimate, and say their "in love" because they have misconceived notions that the physical attraction will last forever.  Whatever happened to dating someone with the intentions of getting to know them? You know.....taking walks in the park, having  long talks,  or spending time around the other person's friends and family to truly get to know them?  Most people are loyal to their friends and very reluctant to hurt them.  Therefore, it is safe to assume that when people become friends before starting a relationship, they are less likely to cheat and do or say things that would hurt the other person.

Still others, carry "excess baggage" from their old relationships into the new ones. They make silly comments to their mate such as: "You have to gain my trust",  "All men/women are dogs", "I already know you're gonna end up doing to me what he/she did".  A negative mentality always produces negative results, and that mentality could very well be the "beginning of the end".  Assuming the worse about your mate at the beginning of a relationship can cause huge problems. For instance, your negativity may cause your mate to become defensive or  intimidated, while also changing their positive perception of  you. This type of mentality can cause  your new mate to incorrectly assume that you are still in love with your ex.

One of the worse examples are self-centered persons, that incorrectly adapt the attitude that the world is supposed to revolve around them. You may have encountered this type of person at some point in your life. They  brag about their looks or material possessions, which in most instances is really an attempt by them to deflect their personal insecurities or feelings of unworthiness. This type of behavior is very detrimental in a relationship, because it can cause your mate to feel inferior and/or angered if they perceive that you think you are better than them.

Cheating and dishonesty go hand-in-hand and when introduced into a relationship, detrimental consequences most likely will occur. How many relationships are you aware of that ended because of disloyalty and dishonesty? When people cheat on their mates it destroys all trust in their relationships.  A lack of trust, destroys the very foundation of a relationship. Let's face it, can a person really, truly love someone that they do not trust? The saying, "Once a cheater, always a cheater", would be a prime example of how cheating mates are perceived.  Cheating and lying go hand-in-hand and once a person tells one lie, the behavior will continue as a new lie will always be necessary to cover the prior one.  It is important to remember that, "whatever a person does in the dark will always eventually come to light" and  "what goes around comes around" (karma).

One of the highest factors involved in destroying relationships is money (finances).  Many mates lie about their finances, or fail to analyze one another's spending and saving habits. This type of behavior can result in many future disagreements and misunderstandings. Many times a person will say, "if they don't earn as much as me, I'm not being with them", "if they don't have a degree like I do, it will never work". This is not always the case and such simple-minded people have probably missed out on the "love of their lives" due to their ignorant mentalities. A true, meaningful relationship involves two people that strive to achieve a common overall goal. One party having better credit or more money than the other should not determine if both people will enter a relationship as these differences do not mean that things can't work between them. However, it is very important to openly communicate with a prospective or current mate in an effort to determine how they deal with money.  This way, both parties will have a clear and concise understanding of  how to combine their financial affairs, and/or  if they should not combine them at all.

Many relationships fail today because they are not solely built with  love as their foundation.  The word love has various meanings:   Love, 1:strong affection, 2: to feel a passion, 3: attraction based on sexual desire, 4:a beloved person, 5: unselfish, loyal, and benevolent concern for others, 6: a score of zero in tennis (The Miriam-Webster Dictionary,1997) , 2.  Love, is a perfect bond of union (New World Translations Bible Col 3:14), 3.  Love, is not jealous, does not brag (New World Translations Bible Col 13:4).  Thus, the question, "Whatever  happened to long-lasting relationships?" The answer is simple...Couples are failing to make love the foundation of their union and  no longer are passionate and affectionate with one another, are selfish, braggers, jealous-hearted, disloyal, and dishonest.  When people learn what love truly means before saying it, maybe they will strive harder to cultivate it and become more dedicated to investing in long-lasting relationships.  Yahoo!
