Grunt's Sash
A symbol of dedication and honor, these are our militia's and our warriors in training. They are skilled and battle hardened, but have yet to truly join our ranks and warriors. These green sashes are worn from the belt and show our name on you.

Clansman's Ring
A symbol of a tried and true fighter, the Clansmen are those who have seen battle against other realms, other armies, and have come home victorious. They are the brunt of our army, and worthy of their name. These silver rings are worn about the neck and they claim you as a soldier in the army of Aethenu.

A symbol of our elite troops, the Reavers are skilled in battle and many other areas. Whether leaders, rallyers, smiths, or just your regular soldier, these men and women deserve your respect. The black pouch made from the strongest of scales sets you apart from the every day warrior.

Lancer's Pauldron
Experts in the field of spears, pikes, javelins, glaives, and halberds, these warriors make up the elite sect known simply as The Lancers. Upon their achievement on joining this sect, the Lancer recieves a heavy, brown leather pauldron, an arm piece passed down through these warriors, decorated with each lancer victory.
5.Ranger - Ranger's Warskirt

Ranger's Warskirt
Experts in the field of archery, single weapon combat, speed, shadow, fire, and survival, the Rangers are our eyes and ears in the wilderness of Aethenu. Upon survival of their Rangers test, the Ranger recieves a two panelled war skirt, equipt with sword sheath and secret holding compartment. In addition, Rangers will recieve a wolf pendant, symbolizing their lone wolf survival skills.
5.Berserker - Berserker's Arms
-Proficient with red
-Proficient with florentine
-Owns fitting garb
-Has successfully run a three (3) minute gauntlet consisting of at least three (3) reavers. Armor may be worn if owned.
-Has attended three (3) events
Berserker's Arms
Experts in the field of florentine and red sword, these warriors have lived, ate, and breathed battle. A perfect blend of power, speed, and finesse, these warriors dont need a shield to run you over. Upon passing their Gauntlet, the Berserker recieves an arm band that grants special abilities in RP Battles of red strikes with either red or blue weapons on the arm the Berserker's Arm is worn upon.
6.Border Warrior - Decorated Shield and Mount
-Proficient with sword and shield
-Has simultaneously defeated three (3) clansman
-Has simultaneously defeated two (2) reavers
-Owns full armor
-Has attended five (5) events
Decorated Shield and Mount
Experts in the field of sword and shield, these warriors are invaliable fighters, the tip of the spear amongst the flankers and the cornerstone amongst the shield wall. Armored head to toe, this warrior is a formidable opponent. Upon completion of their trials, the Border Warrior will recieve a decorated shield cover, holding aethenu's symbol, their units symbol, and a symbol of their choice. Border Warriors will also recieve a mount, a usefull steed for RP Battles (allowing one extra hit to both legs)
00.Champion - Champion's Coat and Council Position
-Proficient with all weapon styles
-Has simultaneously defeated five (5) clansman
-Has simultaneously defeated three (3) reavers
-Owns exceptional garb
-Owns at least two (2) sets of armor
-Owns at least five (5) weapons and one (1) shield
-Has donated above and beyond to the community
-Has run a three (3) minute gauntlet
-Has attended at least ten (10) events, two (2) of which must be Ragnarok
Champion's Coat and Council Position
A legendary title, no one has yet to achieve this glorious rank. It was said by the first elder any warrior capable of doing so much for their realm is worthy of a seat upon the council. Those who are recognized as champions in addition recieve a coat, plated and rendering the champion immune to missle weapons in RP Battles.
TESTS
Siege Engine test
The siege engine is to be forced to remain inside a 15 foot circle. The reaver shall use bow and arrow and only allowed three arrows. One clansman shall use a spear, and the other florentine. The three are to be tied together at the waist and only allowed 2 feet of room in between. The archer teaches the would-be-lancer evasiveness, the spear teaches them to fight against other spears, and the florentiner teaches them to fight against regular melee fighters.
The gauntlet
The gauntlet shall be one fighter (the fighter 'running' the gauntlet) verses 5 fighters consecutively.
The fight must be contained in a 15 foot radius. For each head shot delivered to the runner, 10 seconds is added to their time. For each head shot delivered by the runner, 10 seconds is deducted. The runner shall have one ressurection that will deduct 10 seconds from their run.
Example: a figher has three minutes left of a 5 minute run and they give two head shots and recieve one, they go from 3:00 to 2:40 to 2:50. Ten seconds later they are killed for the first time. So the time goes from 2:50 to 2:40. The ressurection takes place ten seconds after death, so with 2 minutes and 30 seconds left, the figher may resume. He kills his last fighter with 30 seconds to spare, so he ran the 5 minute gauntlet in 4 minutes and 30 seconds.
RANGER'S TRIAL
The ranger's trial demonstrates the survival abilities found common to a ranger. The rangers trial consists of one night starting from 5:00pm untill the next morning at sunrise. The test consists of a hike and one night spent in the woods. Tester must complete the following:
1) Complete a 5 mile hike in garb and live steel
2) Find/Build a sucessfull lodge/shelter
3) Build a fire without the use of lighter fluid or similar.
Items not allowed include but are not limited to: More than two blankets, lighters, lighter fluid, tinder, pillows, flashlights, lanterns, grills, etc.
Items recommended: walkingstick, haveysack (with apples and other fruits), live steel, bow with live arrows, cloak, two blankets, knife, axe, rope, meat(summer sausage highly recommended).
Unit Requirements
What is a Unit?
A Unit is a group of fighters who fight together. Units can be within their home realms, where they only recruit amongst their realm, or they can be a National Unit where they recruit from seperate realms, including their own.
Unit Requirements
In Aethenu, there are a few basic requirements for units. Whether realm based or National, Units in Aethenu require:
-A minimum of four (4) members, each at the level of Grunt or higher
-Unit Symbol(s) and Color(s)
-A background or history, as well as a direction they wish to take the unit in the future
-An honorable and decent attitude, always aware they are representing Aethenu, (i.e. don’t be stupid, use moral judgement and follow the rules)
In addition...
*All units must be approved by the Khans and Council
*Members wishing to join a National Unit must be approved by the individual realm. Similarly, if leadership of the National Unit lies within Aethenu, all other petitioning members must gain their realm's approval.
*We welcome any fighter or spectator on our field, but no one may start an unauthorized group without approval. We are an open to everyone, but the privilege to start your own unit is, in fact, a privilege.
Becoming a Unit
All members wishing to form a unit must start as a Militia. A militia is a group of no more and no less than four (4) members. Members wishing to form a Militia must first petition to the Khans. If the Khans approve the Militia, the Militia gains the right to a leader, group colors, and a name. After the Militia is approved by the Khans, it may petition to become a unit, where it then must meet the requirements above. A unit may only be approved by both the Khans and the Council.
