Canard
The Velocity is a Pusher Canard Aircraft. It is like a backward airplane. The tail, Canard, is in the front and the engine is in the back.
Place a paper on the end of the canard and trace its' shape. Level the aircraft and use the incidence gauge to center the pattern on both sides of the fuselage. Mark the location of the canard in the front of the fuselage so the bottom touches the canard bulkhead. Cut the hole in the fuselage for canard.
Bushing
Sand the inside of the fuselage where the mounting bracket is located and the cnard bulk head. Lay up 3 Ply TRIAX front and back of the canard bulk head. Level aircraft. Mount Canard. Square the canard by measuring from each tip
to the back of the wing stut. Level Canard horizontaly with a level. Set
incidence with gauge. Mark the canard bulkhead where the hole in each mounting tab line up. Cut the holes for the mounting bushings. Remove the canard. Duct tape the bottom of the canard where it meets the bulkhead and fueslage so the microglass does no stick to it. Place a layer of micro on top of the canard bulkhead and on the top of the canard cut out on the fuselage. Coat the outside of the bushing with structural adhesive and coat the canard bulkhead hole. Slide bushings in place. Mount the canard. Bolt in place. Let cure.
Dog House
The dog house is the cover for the canard.
Cut the pattern for the canard cut out in half long ways. Place the pattern on the side of the dog house and cut each side to fit the canard. Tape 36 grit paper to the top of the canard. Slide the dog house back and forth across the sand paper to shape the dog house to fit perfectly on top of the canard.

Shape the dog house as desired. Creat a flange on the inside of the fuselage where the front and back of the dog house attaches. Duct tape the inside of the front and back of the dog house. Sand the inside of the fuselage cutout for the dog house. Put dog house in place. Glass a 2' wide flange with fiberglass tape and epoxy. Let cure. Mark and drill mounting holes through the dog house into the flange. Creat a nice smooth edge between the dog house and the canard
with mirco. Duct tape
the top of the canard where the dog house attaches. Place a layer of thick micro on the edge of the dog house. Attach the dog house. cover the egde with peel ply and run your finger down the side of the dog house to create a uniform bead of micro. Let cure.
Canard Reinforcements
A mounting flange is attached to the top of the canard to allow it to be bolted in front and back. This creates a greater stability in securing the canard in these locations as well as to the bulk head.
Mark the location of the dog house on the canard when canard is mounted. Duct Tape inside of Dog house. Sand Top Of Canard with 40 grit all the way to the fiberglass where the dog house touches. Remove the canard. Center the dog house on the Canard. Glue or clamp dog house in place. Place a flat board on the front and back of the dog house where it meets the canard. Create the flange with 6" wide strips of fiberglass tape.

Exopy the lay-up so that 3" is attached to the canard and the rest is butted up against the inside of the dog house. Create the front and rear tabs on the canard 3" wide strips of glass overlapping vertically and horizontaly from the
canard to the boards. Let cure. Remove Dog house and trim the flange to size.
Canard Mounting Bracket
Tape or glue a flat board on the front and rear tabs that extrends 12". I Duct tape the front of the tabs and the extention boards. Install the canard. Glass 4 plies 6"x12" TRIAX in 4 locations front and back of canard vertical with 3"on Fuselage and 3" on tab. Let cure.

Drill the 1/4" monting holes through all four tabs throught the canard mounting bracket before removing the canard. This is always the best way to insure that the mounting holes will align correctly. Glue and rivet a 1.5" washer with a 1/4" hole and 1/4" nutplate to the mounting tabs with structural adhesive.

Mark the location of the mounting screws around the dog house 3/4" from the edge. Drill mount holes in side, top and front of dog house into the flange and canard mounting bracket. Remove the dog house and rivet the nut plates in place.

Canard Tips Mark the center of each half of the canard tip, top and bottom, and draw a line down the center lengthwise. Cut each half on this line with a pair of scissors. Tape the two halves together for each tip with duck tape. Place one bid on the inside along the outer ridge. After cure remove the tape and place one bid on the outside edge. Create a flange with strips of cured 2 bid glass.

Rivet and glue the 1" strip of fiberglass inside the inner edge of the canard tips with 1/2" extending out. Fill Canard tip with Spray foam and let cure. Cut foam even with inside edge of canard tip. Seal the inner side of the canard tip with trailing edge of the canard tip is even with the trailing edge of the elevator. Glass with 2 bid. Fill with frosting, sand and prime.
slurry and one bid cloth. Sand the mating surfaces of the canard and canard tip. Slide flange inside the canard edge. Adjust so the
