Large scale scratchbuilt Mitsubishi Karigane Type 1 J-BAAI "Kamikaze" (nothing to do with suicide bombing). The aircraft became famous making a record breaking flight in April 1937 from Tachikawa Japan to Croydon England and return in just about 51 hours .
The Narita Museum of Aeronautic Sciences is located near threshold runway 34L at Tokyo Narita International Airport. In addition to displaying a modest amount of aircraft, it has an interesting collection of models of all scales, including a full showcase of 1/144 to 1/200 scratchbuilt tiny but well done models. Most large scale models are of significant aircraft for Japanese industry. I have to thank Shinichi Miwa (Wings of Peace Yahoo Group) for kindly providing useful directions to the museum, and for helping me to put names on some totally unknown aircraft in the western.
