CURTISS SB2C-5 HELLDIVER
Airfix - 1/72 - injected

A friend of mine provided me that kit many years ago when I was 14 or 15, because having started building the kit he didn't feel motivated enough to go further, so I stayed many years with an awfully started kit with no decals and glue-messed-up clear parts. I had to separate and cleanup every cemented parts, get a Falcon clearparts set, and use after market decals in order to complete one of the two color options presented by the instructions sheet, an overall glossy seablue postwar trainer. Please, forgive some inaccuracies as no reference material have been used. I have some doubts about the spinner dimensions and paint, for instance. This model is handpainted with good old Humbrol Authentic Gloss Sea Blue then sprayed with Humbrol satin varnish after decalling. I believe the SB2C-5 is the last variant used by US Navy, which can be identified with different pilot canopy structure and small size spinner.
