The CAO.200 was designed in 1938 and based on the experience gained from development of the Loire-Nieuport 161. The prototype was flown to the maximum speed of 342 mph using a Hispano-Suiza 12Y-51 in 1939. Despite an order for 12 aircraft, none were completed at the beginning of WW2 except the prototype which was eventually flown in combat to even shoot down a Heinkel He 111 on 5 May 1940 (pilot Desmaziere).
Gaetan Oddou elected not to represent the aircraft flown from 1939, but instead its original mock-up as seen on display at the 1938 Salon de l'Aeronautique. Therefore the 1/72 Dujin resin kit needed some changes to run that interesting project.
