On 9th June 1939 M.Kerguistel, technical director of SNCAO (formerly Loire-Nieuport), received a letter from designer A.Kolko. Recommended by M.Caquot, president of the SNCA firm. A.Kolko proposed his plans for a totally new aircraft concept. With a tourism aircraft and a bomber, a fighter showing a very compact look was suggested.
The main idea was to keep the concept compact by placing all construction elements as close to the center of gravity as possible, while still retaining a great maneuvrability. Interested by this concept , M.Caquot ordered a model on 13th June to be tested in the SNCAO wind tunnel.
On 20th June M.Kerguistel was ready with his first report about the initial results: Basically, it was concluded that the design had certain technical advantages, but had a lot of problems too.. Therefore all work at SNCAO was stopped by letter from M.Caquot on 22th June 1937.
This 1/72 model by Gaetan Oddou is built from the Unicraft resin kit and nicely presented with a 1940 "What-if" scheme, giving an interesting idea of what such a project could have become had it been developed to operational status.
