Overview
Blocking Enhanced(BEN) is an attempt to make blocking more fun by bringing it under the player's control. Normally, no attacks will be blocked. When the player holds down a configurable key, they will block every attack, but at the same time cannot attack back. If the player has no shield, a sanctuary effect will be added to simulate parrying.
Blocking Enhanced requires Morrowind Enhanced(MWE) v1.2. See http://www.freewebs.com/aerelorn/ to download MWE or other MWE-enhanced mods.
Note: Requires Tribunal or Bloodmoon

Detailed Overview
When you hold the block key, the following happens:
- If you have a shield:
- Your Block Skill is set to 100+your actual Block Skill, so you will block everything
- If your Block Skill is over 50, you will be given a reflect bonus equal to ( Block Skill - 50 ) / 2. So at skill 70 you'll have a 10% reflect ability and at skill 100 you'll have a 25% reflect ability.
- Your weapon skills are lowered to 0 so you cannot attack while blocking
- If you don't have a shield:
- You are given a sanctuary bonus based on your weapon skill in the weapon you are holding.
- The magnitude of the sanctuary bonus is equal to half your weapon skill. So at skill 50, you'll get a 25 sanctuary effect. At skill 100, you'll get at 50 sanctuary effect.
- Your weapon skills are lowered to 0 so you cannot attack while parrying
IMPORTANT
- In the default game, the maximum Block chance is set to 50. For the purposes of this plugin, it was necessary to increase that limit to 100. However, this has one side effect: NPCs will also block your attacks more effectively.
- The only solution to this problem is available to users of another MWE-enhanced mod, Combat Enhanced. It includes and option to modify the Block skill of enemies you face. Setting the Block skill slider to 0.50 will halve the enemies' Block skills, returning them to a more normal Blocking rate.
TC Compatibility
It is very easy to use BEN with TCs(Total Conversions). Simply do the following:
- Install the TC Compatible version of MWE_Base.esp. See the Morrowind Enhanced manual for more details.
- Install BEN normally.
- Copy the MWE_Blocking.esp file from the TC Compatible Esp folder of the install zip into your /Data Files/ folder, overwriting the regular esp.

Known Issues
- When your Block Skill increases, it says that it has increased to 100+the actual amount. So if you have 50 in block skill, when you use it enough for it to go up it will say that it has increased to 151. This is just an aesthetic issue and has no effect on gameplay.
