This is going to be a semi-organized, semi-random collection of thoughts, readings, and research on effective advertising techniques. One thing I've discovered is that a great many people who are involved in marketing -- and this includes people with MBAs and marketing degrees -- don't necessarily know how to write an effective advertisement campaign. This has become evident as I read newspaper and magazines ads. It has also become evident in my readings, as I view some of the sample ads that the authors hold up in their "halls of shame."
This site is meant to cover multiple methods of advertising -- magazine ads, TV and radio spots, marketing flyers, websites, and more. It will also cover such materials as the ad copy, the imagery used, and slogan writing.
