Video game cartoon coming to G4

Creator of I'm With Busey will make animated show about 1980s video game programmers.

Adam de la Pena, the creator of Comedy Central's I'm With Busey, has signed with video game network G4 to create a show about video game programmers in the 1980s. The as-yet-untitled show follows two programmers who work for a small video game company that gets purchased by a Texas mogul who knows nothing about video games.

I'm With Busey was a reality show that followed de la Pena and actor Gary Busey through a series of comedic misadventures in Los Angeles. De la Pena is also the cocreator of Adult Swim's Minoriteam, for which he also provides voices.

The quirky Adult Swim original stop-motion-animated program Robot Chicken has enjoyed a great deal of attention and support from various entertainment communities through its first three seasons on the late night programming block. The animated series, which parodies popular culture and entertainment icons recently began airing its Second Season, debuted to a noted spike in ratings percentages and delivery numbers for key demographics. Created and produced by actors and comedians who feel they know all too well the commercialization and over-zealousness of various entertainment industries gone awry, Robot Chicken has found a comfortable place on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.

Adult Swim's top original series, Robot Chicken's, from actor/animator Seth Green, debuted its second season on Sunday night (11:30 p.m.) to rank #1 on basic cable in its time period among all target demos--Adults 18-34, Adults 18-24, Men 18-34 and Men 18-24--according to preliminary data from Nielsen Media Research. The stop-motion animated series ranked #28 for the week among all ad-supported basic cable programming with Adults 18-34 and #19 for the week with men 18-24. Compared to previously recorded numbers, the season opener earned remarkable double-digit ratings and delivery gains among all key demos. Highlights of Robot Chicken's second season opening performance includes the following:

Buoyed by Robot Chicken's performance, Adult Swim retained its #1 ranking for total day delivery of adults 18-34, adults 18-24 and men 18-24--the latter for 77 straight weeks. The late-night network also ranked #5 for total day delivery of adults 18-49, and claimed 10 of the top 50 programs of the week among adults 18-34, more than any other basic cable network.
