I am running as an INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE for election to the new Townsville City Council - election day is March 15 2008. I am enjoying the journey and love being able to have a voice to speak on issues I care about: promoting and enhancing the health and wellbeing of my community for all of us.  I stand for a Safe, Strong and  Sustainable Townsville.

I have lived in both Townsville and Thuringowa at various times in my 20 years living in Townsville.  My in-laws have lived in Townsville many many years longer.  I have been the City Safe Officer at Townsville City Council for almost 10 years.  My children were born and raised here.

MY VISION: A society where each individual, community and organisation values highly, and sustainably contributes to, the wellbeing of everyone in the community.

MY GOAL: To promote a safe, productive, happy and welcoming community through the delivery of services to the community that work the way they are supposed to, are engaging, and which enhance wellbeing for everyone.

WHY I AM STANDING: I love the things both Townsville and Thuringowa Council's have done - especially Riverway, especially the Gregory Street redevelopment and suburban hubs redevelopments, especially recycling and moves towards a Solar City. Our parks are great. I want to be part of the team that continues and improves upon those great works. I have big visions for the local scene. But above all we must make sure everyone in the community are included in the journey to creating a great Townsville, that is caring, sharing, sustainable and very attractive. We cannot enjoy wealth and wellbeing whilst there are people in our community who suffer.  We need to work together to reduce the gap between the haves and have nots by providing an environment and community that is safe, attractive and offers opportunities for all.

ADRIENNE ISNARD FOR A SAFE, STRONG &

SUSTAINABLE TOWNSVILLE
Safe: We should be able to enjoy living in Townsville and Thuringowa without the worry of our homes being burglarised, our streets used as race tracks and our community vandalised or daubed with graffiti.
Sustainable: Imaginative use of the available residential land is needed to maintain the unique balance of urban, rural and bush environs that abound in Townsville and Thuringowa.
Strong: A strong vibrant local economy coupled with a strong community network, where we are all are valued and no-one feels left out, is essential for continued prosperity.

HOT NEWS:
ONCE IN A LIFETIME DEAL OF THE CENTURY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For the first time you will get to choose THE WHOLE local government council team instead of just one Mayor and one Councillor for your area - YES - YOU CAN CHOOSE YOUR DREAM TEAM - all 12 councillors!  That's right, don't let Tony Mooney or Les Tyrell tell you who you will have running the council for you - You Tell Them!.  You can pick and mix from all the candidates whether indepdendents or on the teams selected on your behalf  by Mooney or Tyrell, the 12 men and women plus one mayor, that YOU want to represent you and who you think will do a good job.  So enjoy this opportunity - it may not come again because once elected both mayoral candidates will be re-installing divisions which means in the future its back to you only being able to choose one person to represent you where you live and one mayor.

Right, photo of me taken recently by Andrew Rankin - hair by Jackie of Solutions For Hair and Beauty in Currajong - no they didn't offer me any inducements to mention them - I just do it because they are exceptionally good and talented people and when I needed all the help I could get to look good, they made me look GREAT!  Right: the first election corflute looking for a place to be displayed.
