Ashbourne & District Pipe Band is based in Ashbourne, Derbyshire, England. Ashbourne is a small market town in the heart of the Peak District and is the Gateway to Dovedale. The Pipe Band has been around since 1977 and has always been a family oriented band with several of each family offering to do a number of jobs within the band, which means a more friendlier atmosphere than some of the larger (sponsored) bands.
In the town we have a Highland Gathering once a year, in July, and are generally considered to be the biggest and probably the best, south of the Border. We are always on the look out for new members, whether experienced or not. (We will teach!)
The band meets twice a week for practice, on a Tuesday the practice is held at Egginton School, and on a Thursday it is held at St. John's Church Hall in Ashbourne. Both of these practices commence at approx 19.30 hrs. THERE IS NO PRACTICE ON THE SECOND THURSDAY OF THE MONTH!
We are always trying to raise money to fund such outings, and every year is no exception. Anyone interested in joining the band should either contact us by using the email link below or come and meet us on a practice night.
