Observatory

Presently I am using a Kendricks Shelter-Dome that I purchased via Astromart.I've equiped it with a pier mount for my LX-90 and carpeting to reduce moisture. A small table for accessories and laptop and separate power adapters for Dew Clip and Scope all powered by AC and two seats, one  adjustable and one for computer work. Some day there will be a permanent building but for now I count myself lucky just to have this setup. The observatory is located on the slope of an East facing hill behind my house. I'm in the bottom of a valley and am surrounded by very nearby trees. Add to that the hill climbing higher and I have limited West and North views. Polaris is not visible at any time. But something new is always rising in the East. The Band of the Milky Way is always visible even with the light pollution from the streetlights in our small Hamlet. Being in the bottom of the tight valley amplifies the light dome. The sky is not as good as it is outside of town but much better than most of the rest of the East Coast.

UPDATE:

The last NorEaster of the season brought the Shelter-dome DOWN!!! The Explora-Dome is on order and should be up and running by June 22nd.

The Explora-Dome has arrived and construction is complete.Photos are on Construction Page
