Summary:
Tatsuya and Kazuya Uesugi are twin brothers who grew up with their childhood friend and neighbour, Minami Asakura. While the older twin Tatsuya may be naturally more gifted, he is a slacker and a pervert who just lazes around. The younger twin Kazuya is hard-working and talented, an ace pitcher for the baseball team. Minami has a dream to go to Koshien, which is where the national high school baseball championships are played, and Kazuya is planning on taking her there. Both brothers are in love with Minami, but Tatsuya seems to want to give in to his younger brother, even at the cost of his own feelings, and despite what Minami may think. But then a life-changing event happens, and Tatsuya starts to work hard to fulfil Minami's dreams and earn her love.

Review:
Touch is widely-regarded as Mitsuru Adachi's first masterpiece. The artwork is still of the earlier generation, but the storyline and sheer drama of the series hooks you in. The struggle of Tatsuya to come to term with his feelings and prepare to fight, even against his own brother, for what he loves is a enthralling one. High-energy dramatic baseball, filled with comedy and some genuinely memorable romantic moments, Touch is one of the best. A must-read for all Mitsuru Adachi's fans!

Touch Characters

Touch Characters

Tatsuya Uesugi Tatsuya Uesugi
The main male character of Touch. He is the elder of twin brothers, and although he may be more naturally talented, he always gives in to his younger brother. He spends most of his time goofing off and finds it very hard to be serious about anything. He slowly develops feelings for Minami Asakura, the girl next door.

Kazuya Uesugi Kazuya Uesugi
The younger twin brother of Tatsuya, and a baseball star. He loves their neighbour, Minami Asakura, and would do anything for her. Talented, hard-working and handsome, he strives to fulfil Minami's dream of going to Koshien by being the best ace pitcher Meisei High has ever seen.

Minami Asakura Minami Asakura
The childhood friend of the Uesugi twins, and the main female character in the series. Neither of the brothers are sure at first which one she loves. Beautiful and talented, she has a dream to go to Koshien, where the high school baseball nationals are played. She is also a star in her own right, graceful and talented in gymnastics.

Toshio Asakura Toshio Asakura
Minami's father, who is a widower and runs a coffeeshop. A good friend and neighbour of the Uesugis. Hires Tatsuya as a worker, in order to help him repay a debt. Trusts him implicitly, leaving him to handle the cafe while he goes off to watch Kazuya play baseball.

Shingo and Haruko Uesugi Shingo and Haruko Uesugi
Tatsuya's and Kazuya's parents. They act very loving towards each other - sometimes to the point of embarrassing their children. They are strongly in favour of a match between Kazuya and Minami, and always comment on how good they look together. They act like typical parents towards both of their sons, and are good friends with the Asakuras.

Shouhei Harada Shouhei Harada
A friend of Tatsuya's, who entered the same high school. An extremely good fighter, he is surprisingly wise under his brutish face, and often tells Tatsuya things that he himself did not realise. Acts as an encourager and supporter of Tatsuya, albeit indirectly.

Koutarou Matsudaira Koutarou Matsudaira
A close friend of Kazuya's, and his battery partner. Plays catcher for the Meisei High team, and initially views Tatsuya with disdain, comparing him with Kazuya. Later becomes captain of the baseball team, after their seniors graduate.

Sachiko Nishio Sachiko Nishio
Manager of the Meisei High Baseball Team, daughter of the coach, and the first person to spot Tatsuya's raw talent, although she thought he was Kazuya at the time. Is constantly looking to recruit Tatsuya into the baseball team, even though they already have Kazuya. Occasionally acts as a sounding-board for Minami. Is dating Takeshi Kuroki.

Takeshi Kuroki Takeshi Kuroki
Captain of the Meisei High Baseball Team when Kazuya first enters high school. He was the former pitcher, but deliberately made way for Kazuya to pitch, all in the effort to go to Koshien. Is dating Sachiko Nishio, but doesn't believe her at first when she tells him of Tatsuya's talent.

Coach Nishio Coach Nishio
Coach of the Meisei High Baseball team, and father to Sachiko. A typical coach, wise in handling his players, although prone to erratic actions to test out his newly-learned theories sometimes. Falls ill halfway through the series.

Coach Kashiwaba Coach Kashiwaba
The person Coach Nishio hired to replace him while he was ill. Acts mysteriously, and treats the team very badly, punishing them through gruelling training for reasons unknown. He is supposedly a famous alumni of Meisei High's baseball team.

Nishimura Nishimura
Ace pitcher for Seinan High, with a wicked curveball. Possibly the best pitcher in the prefecture. Arrogant and cocky, but is always being put down or ignored by the others. Is a big fan of Minami Asakura, and tries to get her to go out on a date with him. Views Akio Nitta as his biggest rival.

Akio Nitta Akio Nitta
A star batter for Sumi Tech, who is always trailed by tons of fangirls. Known for his ability to predict the pitcher's moves... but is stumped by Tatsuya at guessing. Seems to be a quiet admirer of Minami as well, but is very cool about it. An acquaintance of Shouhei Harada from elementary school, and brother to Yuka.

Yuka Nitta Yuka Nitta
The younger sister of Akio Nitta, whom Tatsuya happened to rescue from drowning. Selfish and scheming, she loves her brother and may - or may not - have a secret liking for Tatsuya. Joins Meisei High and signs on as the baseball team's manager, supposedly to spy for Sumi Tech. Views Minami as a rival for the affections of both her brother and Tatsuya.

Takeshi Yoshida Takeshi Yoshida
A fan of Tatsuya Uesugi. Wants to imitate him at everything, including the way that he plays baseball. Seems to have a liking for Yuka Nitta, and that spurs him on to view Tatsuya as a rival to beat.
