Summary:
Misora Sakajou is the daughter of Kentaro Sakajo, supposedly a great actor - or he would have been, if he hadn't died after his first cameo appearance in a film. In the meanwhile, Misora and her two friends enter Asamidai Middle School, where they meet another trio of friends from the past. All six of them had been involved in a fiery accident at a temple in the past, but by saving the temple's relic, the patron spirit of that temple had granted them special powers, to be awakened on their 13th birthdays. As the six, all gifted athletes, join the sports rental club in order to boost the various sports teams when necessary, they also grow older and one by one come into their powers. In the meantime, various forces in the movie industry start to converge... and a young girl, unaware of her acting talents, may end up as the first Japanese actress ever to win an Oscar.

Review:
Itsumo Misora is a fairly short story, comprising only 5 volumes, of which about half has been scanlated, so it's a little difficult to tell which way Adachi is heading with this manga. While the characters are likable enough, the triple plot hooks of supernatural powers, middle-school mixed sports, and an undiscovered acting talent have yet to converge properly. It may be difficult to sustain all three, but in the meantime, Itsumo Misora is still an enjoyable read.

Itsumo Misora Characters

Itsumo Misora Characters

Misora Sakajou Misora Sakajou
The main character of the series. Daughter of the deceased Kentaro Sakajou, who might have become a famous actor. Is a very athletic girl, especially good at kickboxing and softball. Good friends with Ryudo Mihashi and Jushiro Murata. Oldest of the six children, so is the first to receive her powers. Also extremely good at acting, but doesn't really know it. Views Miyako Kokubo as a rival.

Kota Kitajima Kota Kitajima
Grandson of a very rich and famous movie director. Good friends with Miyako Kokubo and Chiyonosuke Kasuga. The youngest of the six children, though probably the most intelligent. Very knowledgeable about all forms of sports and exercise methods in general. Is a karate expert, but initially in rehabilitation for fight injuries. Is the target of a one-sided rivalry from Ryudo Mihashi.

Ryudo Mihashi Ryudo Mihashi
One of the six children, who forms a trio of friends with Misora Sakajou and Jushiro Murata. Likes Misora and wants to date her, but is frustrated by her lack of understanding about romantic matters. Despises Kota Kitajima, perceiving him as weak. A brawler by nature, who likes to pick fights.

Miyako Kokubo Miyako Kokubo
One of the six children, who forms a trio of friends with Kota Kitajima and Chiyonosuke Kasuga. Smart and confident in herself, she is the person Misora tries repeatedly to outdo. Has an elder sister who is a teacher in the school. Is the second oldest, so the second to receive her power.

Bake Bake
Misora's cat, who was born one day after her, and who also received a gift at the temple fire. He was granted the ability to speak and act human on his birthday. He acts like an old man who likes to smoke and peep at girls. (Has certain advantages in that area, since girls don't suspect cats.)

Chiyonosuke Kasuga Chiyonosuke Kasuga
One of the six children. Good friends with Miyako Kokubo and Kota Kitajima. Tends to act protective of Kota whenever Ryudo tries to get him in trouble. Another brawler by nature. Has a slight betting match going on with Jushiro Murata.

Jushiro Murata Jushiro Murata
One of the six children, friends with Misora Sakajou and Ryudo Mihashi. A rather laid-back personality, who has a slight betting match going with Chiyonosuke Kasuga.

Tadashi Funamura Tadashi Funamura
The teacher in charge of the Asamidai Middle School's sports rental club, and the one who came up with the idea of loaning out athletic students to sports clubs that need them temporarily. Likes to peep at girls as well, and is interested in Miyako's sexy older sister.

Mizue Sakajou Mizue Sakajou
Misora's single mother, who works as a hairstylist, and has a hobby of carving wooden furniture. Occasionally pays a visit to the great director that spotted her late husband's talent. Raises Misora to be ever mindful of how great her father could have been.

Kentaro Sakajou Kentaro Sakajou
Misora's deceased father. Supposedly, he would have become a great film star in Japanese cinema, if he had not passed away. Had only one five-minute appearance in a movie, as one of many minor villains that was killed by the hero in a battle.
