On Site Participating Entries
|
How do I enter an on-site participating production?
-
Officially register the production at the national website, www.kcactf.org
- Then email me, (your regional chair,) at beachcl@hsu.edu to request an on-site visit.
Please be aware that this is a new process for us and we need as much advance warning as possible to schedule your on-site visit. If at all possible, please email me your intention to request an on-site visit for a fall production by September 15.
What can I expect from an on-site visit?
- Two members of the regional selection team will come to view a performance of your production and respond to the company immediately afterwards. Their travel costs to your school are covered by the region. (If an overnight stay is necessary because of travel distance required, we will ask you to provide accommodations for them if at all possible.)
- No later than the next day you will be informed whether or not your production is being held for consideration for invitation to the regional festival. (If the team is visiting on closing night--avoided if at all possible--we'll let you know that night so you can make decisions about how to handle strike.)
- The selection team will nominate up to two actors for the Irene Ryan auditions. Your school may name a third.
- Any student designers of the production will be eligible to enter the design competition.
- Any students from your school will be eligible to enter playwriting, directing, dramaturgy, critics institute, and other activities associated with your school's participation in KCACTF.
REGION VI's COMMITMENT TO PARTICIPATING ENTRIES, ON SITE & STATE FESTIVALS:
In the interest of accessibility of all sorts, and in the spirit of
inclusion that is the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival,
the Region VI Committee and the National Office of KCACTF announce the
following:
Eligibility
for entering a participating production in KCACTF is solely dependant
on registration with the appropriate region and the Kennedy Center.
Effective January 1, 2007, no college or university will be required to
attend a State Festival for a production from their institution to be
considered for invitation to the Regional Festival and subsequently, to
the National Festival at the Kennedy Center.
No
college or university will be, in any way, penalized or barred from
full consideration for invitation to the KCACTF regional festival if
the institution chooses not to participate in or have their work
showcased at a State Festival.
No
college or university will be, in any way, looked upon more favorably
for consideration for invitation to the KCACTF regional festival if the
institution chooses to participate in or have their work
showcased at a State Festival.
Yes,
we will still have a full schedule of State Festivals,
but now you also have the option of an on-site visit. This means
that participating entries of productions mounted between January and
September in a calendar year are possible in addition to fall productions. As long as an entering institution
has a plan in place for holding a high quality production over until
the following February then these productions are encouraged to enter
as participating productions.
