Lullaby For a
Saviour
By
Stephen M.
Larson
Sleep, little babe, go
to sleep;
dream while you may, pure and
deep.
There's a road up ahead
where you'll not find a bed,
so sleep, little babe, go
to sleep.
Rest, gentle one, take your rest;
safe and warm there at your
mother's breast.
There's a day, bitter
cold, when your life will be sold,
but for now, gentle one,
take your rest.
Hush, precious child,
don't you cry;
the ones that you love are
nearby.
Though some day, when
you're grown, you'll be left all alone,
for tonight, precious
child, don't you cry.
Now, while you're young,
you'll be kept safe from harm,
enclosed in a strong wall of
love,
But you'll soon be a man
with a life of your own,
and a mission from heaven
above.
Though you're God's only
Son, and the King of all men,
on a cross You will find
Your reward;
You will give Your own blood for the sins of the world,
and the crown of its
Saviour and Lord!
Sleep, little babe, go
to sleep;
dream while you may, clear
and deep.
Son of God, Son of Man,
take your rest while you can,
and sleep, little babe, go
to sleep.
