Peoples and Cultures in Nigeria, May 7-8 2008

 

The crisis of national integration in Nigeria is a function of limited understanding of Nigeria's cultural diversity which should be properly interrogated. The Nigerian Cultural Studies Network (NCSN) of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in conjunction with Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo is organizing a two-day conference on the above theme. The organizers invite scholars from around the world to attend this important conference, which will be held at the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Nigeria. Proposals for presentation should be around the following or related sub-themes:

 

  • Traditions of origin, migrations and intergroup relations
  • Traditional economic and financial systems
  • Traditional education and socialization processes
  • Indigenous legal and judicial processes
  • Religion and worldview
  • Languages, oral literature and music
  • Popular culture and leisure
  • Gendered ethnicities

 

All the abstracts and papers presented during the conference will be published online. Outstanding papers will later be peer-reviewed and published by NCSN.
