FAQ:This is a little section to answer some of those frequently asked questions.
Q: Why do I need AVE?
A: AVE provides an easy way to check the version on all AutoCAD files in a directory. If a client requests a certain version, AVE gives you an easy way to make sure all files are saved properly. AVE also displays the embedded preview image stored in the file which helps identify files. You can export this information to HTML format for a nice index sheet to include with your drawings. AVE also allows you to create zip files.
Q: Why is there a black bar under my preview? or Why can't I see the entire preview image?
A: AVE was written to display the majority of previews straight out of the box. The preview area is fixed in the program, so it will not resize to fit the preview. This will probably be part of a future upgrade.
Q: Where does AVE get the preview image?
A: AutoCAD added the ability to store a preview image in the file starting with R13. As long as the user has chosen to save the preview to the file, AVE should be able to extract the image (R13, R14 and 200x only).
