| ABOUT I'm Lauren. I quite like my name, even though it's a bit common and boring. Apparently it wasn't when I was born. I'm a senior in High School, in Year 11. I recently graduated from yellow shirts to white shirts. I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to Durban for most of my childhood. When I was almost 9 my family moved to Australia. We lived in Sydney for 2 years. I can easily say those first few months have been the worst in my 15 years. We moved up to the Blue Mountains and have lived here for 5 and a bit years. It feels like a lifetime, but also a very short while at the same time. I own a dog named Missy and a cat named Bobby (who is a girl, I meant to call her Barbie) and live in a pretty small, ordinary suburban home. I am a bit of a nerd secretly. I love the Sims and love tinkering around of computers. I also use a lot of old-people words, such as "tinkered", "oh gosh" and "shit". Lol, just joking about that last one. I love the word "lol", as you may have noticed, lol. And I hate chatspeak. How hard is it to type out another few letters?? Not very. I don't notice it, but apparently I often use words no one else knows, probably Afrikaans, like "frot" (meaning rotten) "nei mann" (meaning no way!) and other things like that. I am turning 16 in 4 days. So I will finally be legal...to drive ;) I have had a passion for horses since I was 3 or something, but have never owned one. And that status doesn't look set to be changed soon. I did however have lessons from age 6-13. Money is very tight in our family, so I decided to stop for a while. I plan on going to the Australian National University (ANU) and doing a Bachelor of Arts/Commerce. I'm taking a "gap year" first - traveling to Germany, France, England and everywhere else I have family and can get a free room, for a couple of months at least. I don't know what I want to do when I grow up. Maybe a teacher, maybe go into marketing, maybe become a historian. I honestly have no idea. Who is Lauren Robinson? A motivated and passionate girl who has undergone many struggles, emotional and physical, and conquered them all. She is eager to get out into the world and make a difference. |
