Buckle up folks. The Grand Finale of American Idol 2006 is upon us.
Taylor Hicks and Katharine McPhee will be nervously enjoying the next
two hours as we countdown to that moment where Ryan Seacrest will tell
us who is this year's American Idol.
Tonight, the whole troop is back. Melissa McGhee, Kevin Covais, Lisa
Tucker, Mandisa Hundley, Bucky Covington, Ace Young, Kellie Pickler,
Paris Bennett, Chris Daughtry and Elliott Yamin are all back to
celebrate the season and perform as part of tonight's spectacle.
Everyone appears to be tipping Taylor Hicks as the winner on websites
across the internet and Idolblog is no different. Our poll has Taylor
on 62% of the vote so with that amount of difference, I think everyone
is feeling safe with their tips as to who is winning this thing
tonight.
It's going to be a great show tonight so stay tuned for details as

American Idol Episode 40 - Top 2 Performance Review

It's been a long time coming but we're almost there. Tonight, our
final two Idols perform for your vote before one of them will be
crowned the next American Idol tomorrow night at the Kodak Theatre in
Hollywood. Will it be Katharine McPhee? Will it be Taylor Hicks?
The odds are stacked against Taylor as previous girl/guy combinations
in the grand final have always seen the girl come out on top. Will
Taylor be able to turn the tide and finally win one for the team? In a
little over 24 hours, the votes will all be tallied and the winner
will be announced.
Tonight, our finalists will again perform three songs. Two of them
we've heard before. One of them will be the winner's single which will
no doubt be number one on the Billboard charts in weeks to come.

My Thoughts: This certainly wouldn't have been my choice as one of
Taylor's best performances from the season. I think he's let himself
down with that performance. It would have been much better to have
seen more of the energetic, personality filled Taylor that everyone

My Thoughts: Listening to a new song for the first time can be
strange. Especially when you know that it's likely to go straight to
number one. My first impression is that the key was a little low. It's
a very typical Idol song and I'm sure it will grow on me but I always
feel like these singles are safe.

My Thoughts: I think Taylor's song is the better of the two. It seems
to be more 'him'. Lines like "never been afraid of standing out"
really suit him. I love Katharine but I think this competition is
Taylor's to lose.

American Idol Episode 39 - Top 3 Elimination Review

After last week's drama and uproar over Chris Daughtry being
eliminated from American Idol it was always going to mean that the
remaining contestants, Katharine McPhee, Elliott Yamin and Taylor
Hicks were going to have to dig deep if they wanted to make it into
the Grand Final.
*** 1 HOUR RESULTS SHOW TONIGHT ***
I was really worried after seeing what Katharine's songs were going to
be as I couldn't stand either of them but she pulled out the stops to
create some great moments.
Elliott wasn't on his game as much as he was last week and put himself
on the knifes edge for tonight's elimination.
Taylor once again entertained but proved that he doesn't have the best
voice in the competition. So who did you think was the best and
deserves to be in the Grand Final. Let's take a look at the
Idolblog.com polls.
Elliott Yamin (24%) has dropped from the top of last week's poll to
being on the bottom. There is a reasonable gap between him and
Katharine McPhee (34%) which leads me to believe that is definitely
going to be Elliott going home this week.
Taylor Hicks (42%) once again is the favourite and if his luck
continues will be crowned the next American Idol.
For the second week in a row Katharine McPhee (39%) is the person
you'd most like to see go tonight while Elliott Yamin (36%) comes in
second with Taylor Hicks (25%) being the least favoured to be leaving
the competition.
I'm not sure that we'll see a big shock result tonight. I think Taylor
is safe and he'll be one of the Grand Finalists next week. Going home?
I think it will be Elliott and that seems to be the general concensus
across the net.

More than 50 MILLION VOTES were made last night so there are obviously
plenty of people with vetted interest in who is going through to the
finals.
We get to see the homecomings that each of the final three had this
last week before each of them gets to sing.

American Idol Episode 38 - Top 3 Performance Review

Tonight our three remaining American Idol contestants have a real
challenge on their hands. Two of them will go through to the Grand
Final and one will miss out. To get there, they will each be singing
three songs. One chosen by the judges. One chosen by themselves. And
one chosen by legendary music producer Clive Davis.
I am finding it really hard to decide who I want to see in the Grand
Final. Now that Chris Daughtry has gone, I'm thinking that it should
probably be Taylor and Katharine but Elliott has really stepped it up.
If Elliott can continue to impress this week then we may very well see
him in the final with Taylor as I think Katharine may on her last legs
in this show.
It's going to be a big night so buckle yourself in and get ready for a
real treat.

My Thoughts: What is it with the song choices for Katharine tonight??
However, starting accapella and bringing in a soft guitar is real
classy. This is so tender and sweet. Once again I am loving her
phrasing. I am impressed that Katharine has twice been able to wow me

My Thoughts: This is an adventurous song that Katharine has chosen and
while it wasn't her best performance of the night it was definitely

Thankfully there is some life after the intro where the Taylor that

Chris Daughtry being headhunted by Fuel

After Ryan crushed Chris Daughtry's hopes of winning American Idol
he's found himself in hot demand, not just on the talk show circuit,
but by the band Fuel who want Chris to take over the lead singers
role.
While Chris was reluctant to say he'd accept the offer when Ryan
Seacrest quizzed him on his radio show, the band had this to say on
their official website
'All right. Check it out. Here's the deal. Normally, obviously, we
would never even think about anyone from Am Idol as a singer for
Fuel. However, ever since Chris sang Hemorrhage on the show, we
began paying attention. Sorry, the show's not my thing, but at
least most of the finalist can sing and aren't Britney Spearing it
up there. However, Chris in my opinion has carried himself well on
the show and has stayed true to his rock side, which is a serious
credit to him considering the format. We have found some great
guys through the audition process and in fact, were already headed
in other directions when Chris unexpectedly got voted off the
show. The phones started ringing. So now what? I think anyone
would say that we would at least have to entertain the idea of
Chris and Fuel. The websites have been flooded with support for
the idea ever since he sang Hemorrhage from most of you. So that
is what we are doing. We are entertaining the idea and the offer
to Chris was that we would be willing to entertain him as an
option. However, there is a lot to discuss and be decided. Is it
right for us? Would it be the right thing for Chris? Would he even
be able to get out of the contractual obligations to Am Idol?
Would we be able to get things squared with Sony? So nothing is
cut and dry, even if both camps thought it was right thing to do,
it still might be impossible to work out all the details. Chris
and I have discussed the possibility before and we are still
entertaining the idea. Either way, never fear, we are coming with
a great lead singer very soon who we are very excited about and
rolling out a record this year.

The next step on Chris's journey will be an interesting one and
everyone will be anxiously watching to see where he goes from here.
