Virtual stock

The World Games Inc Virtual Stock Market Game ("SMG") is a game based on the principles of a real stock market that allows members to trade virtual shares in real time with other members online. The shares in the company are virtual, the company and the "market" in which the virtual shares are "traded" are just a game but the excitement and thrill of playing is very real.

How do I purchase or sell shares?

All share transactions are conducted within the World games Inc Stock Exchange that is accessed by clicking on the Play World Games Inc Global Exchange Stocks link within your Member's Lounge.

The first thing you need to do prior to purchasing shares is to establish a price that you are prepared to pay for them. You will need to have a look at the prices that sellers want for their shares and you need to look at the prices that buyers are prepared to pay.

The central feature of the Stock Exchange is the Buying & Selling table which lists the highest 20 prices that buyers are prepared to pay and 20 lowest prices that sellers are prepared to sell at. At any given price there may be more than one buyer or seller, so the number of Users is displayed at each price. The volume of shares being offered or sought at each price is also displayed so you can calculate the value of the shares on offer.

In the example below the highest buyers want to purchase 2456 shares at Sf 3.61. The lowest sellers are seeking Sf 3.65 and only have 635 shares for sale. You need to determine whether you believe the sellers are prepared to drop in price or whether there is sufficient demand that buyers will be prepared to increase their price to secure the shares. Looking at the volumes, there is a lot of demand for shares on the buying side but a much smaller supply of shares on offer for sale. In this case there is sufficient upward pressure to warrant the share price increasing in value.

If you believed the share price would never be this low again and you wanted to secure the shares you could either place a BUY order at Sf 3.62, going to the front of the queue, or you could purchase the shares by accepting the Sf 3.65 offer of the sellers. If you placed your order at Sf 3.62 there is the chance that another buyer will offer a higher price and you may miss out on the opportunity to purchase at that price. As you can see, the World Games Inc stock market operates like any other stock market, except it is not subject to the external
factors that a real stock market is.

If for instance you want to purchase Sf 1,000 worth of shares, divide 1,000 by the price you are accepting, in this case Sf 3.65. This means you can purchase 273 shares at Sf 3.65. Simply enter 273 in the box below after Buy and 3.65 in the box after shares. Then click the BUY button and the transaction will be processed.
Should you wish to sell your shares then the process is the same except you use the Sell option instead.

How do I know how many shares I currently own?

Your stock portfolio displays the number of shares you own under the heading Stock Volume. These shares are tradable, ie they can be sold at any time. This field also shows how many of your shares are on the market for sale. In this example it states o f/s which means zero for sale. The value of your tradable shares is displayed under the heading Stock Value and is calculated using the Average Share price for the day.

Any shares that can NOT be sold immediately are listed under the heading Escrowed Stock. 50% of all stocks purchased using funds from your mandatory stock account can NOT be sold for a period of 30 days. The value of these shares is NOT included in the Stock Value figure.
